' To all whom t may concern Be itknown that I, SIGMUND DEUTSCH, of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new andA useful Combined Shirt, Re-
n' movable Lining, Chest-Protector, and Ornamental Front; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,'such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to maire and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form part `of this specification, in which- Fignre lis a front view of the shirt, the protector concealed from view. In the accompanying drawing, A represents a shirt of any suitable material, as woolen,
cotton, `or other fabric, which will stand washing. The entire front of said shirt is designed to be made in one piece, without the usual central button or stud holes, which may, however, be employed if desired. B B represent button-holes, arranged, as shown, in-a line cov incident with what would ordinarily be the edge of lthe bosom if a bosom were inserted i-n the usual manner. Said holes pass through the shirt-front B and through a stay or backing, O, sewed to the back of said front by two lines of stitching, c c. D represents a lining for the front of the shirt, intended to be made of' some suitable chest-protecting material, the article generally employed for that purposefbeing one which will not wash, and which, on that account, it is desirable to have removable from the shirt. This lining is provided with buttons d d, by means of which it is secured in place, said buttons passing through the holes B. The inner side of this lining is intended to be furnished with an ornamental character or letter of some kind, a star, E, being shown in the drawing to represent the same. On parades 4or other occasions the lining will be worn to be much more easy and comfortable than' protectors which are hung in an unmanly manner around the neck. What I claim as my invention isv1. A shirt the front of which is formed or provided with button-holes B B, arranged in a line coincident with that occupied by the v edge of a bosom, substantially as specified, or in a lineor lines passing on each side of the middle of the front, as shown and described.
2. A shirt-front provided with the stay or backing C, and having button-holes passing through said front and stay, substantially as shown and described. Y,
