IMPROVEMENT I N- GANG-PLANKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 176,872, dated May 2, 1 876 application filed To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE MALONE, of Memphis, in the county of Shelby and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and Improved Steamboat Stage-Plank, of which the following is a specification Myinvention consists of a ladder of ropes and cross-pieces, in combination with the stage-plank of a steamer, in such manner that it can be readily removed for sliding freight on and oh" the boat, and as readily applied again to afford foot-hold for passengers. The said ladder is also applicable for afireescape.

A is the stage-plank or bridge, which may be of any approved form or construction, with which I combine a ladder of ropes, B, and cross-bars, by permanently fastening it at one end, D, and detaohably hooking it at the other March 21, 1876.

Besides the ring attachments G to the sides of the plank for connecting the ropes for hauling and staying, I also propose to attach the T-headed hooks H, for detachably connecting ropes in the handling of the plank.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The ladder of ropes B and cross-bars 0, combined with the stage-plank A in such manner that one end can be readily attached and detached, substantially as specified.
