The invention relates to memorandum pad holders adapted for use in connection with loose leaves and has for its principal object the provision of a device of the character stated that is ornamental in character and adapted to not only hold a pad of loose leaves in position for making notations on the uppermost leaf, but provides means by which each leaf after notations have been made thereon may be readily removed and the remainder of the pad held in position.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of the character described that is adapted to be used as an at tachment for telephones being provided with a clip for holding the device in convenient position on the standard of the telephone.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of the character stated provided with a suitable base to receive the pad of loose leaves, and a cover member slidably mounted on the base and providing a weight to hold the pad of loose leaves in compact form for notation, said cover memher having an opening therein exposing the uppermost leaf, the cover member also being provided with means to secure a calendar pad thereto and a clip for holding one or more pencils or pens.
The invention will be described in detail hereinafter and will be found illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a side view in elevation of the improved memorandum pad holder showing it in relationship with the standard of a telephone instrument partly broken away and shown in broken lines,
Figure 2 is a front view,
Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view on a plane indicated by the line 33 of Figure 2, and
Figures 4 and 5 are transverse sectional .Views on planes indicated by the lines 44,
and 55, respectively, of Figure 3.
In the drawing-s similar reference characters are used to designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The improved memorandum pad holder comprises a base member 1 having depending side flanges 2 and a transverse slot 3.
4 designates a cover frame havingdepending side flanges 5 and the upper end provided with a depending flange 6. The lower end of the side flanges 5 are extended below the lower end 7 of the cover frame 4 and has inturned or reentrant flanges 8 that'are spaced apart as shown in Figures 2 and 5 to form an opening 9. The cover frame 4 is provided with an opening 10 to expose a memorandum pad 11 that is preferably made up of loose sheets and held in position on the base 1 by the weight of the cover frame 4, the opening 10 being provided to permit making notations on the top sheet of the pad 11, and the open face 9 is provided to permit removal of the top sheet for notations on the next sheet when desired. The cover frame 4 is provided with a depending tongue 12 that engages in transverse slot 3 and forms a stop for the upper ends of the paper sheets comprising the memorandum pad 11, it being under-stood that the side flanges 5 enclose the sides of the pad, while the inturned flanges 8 engage the lower ends of the sheets.
The cover frame 4 is also provided with transverse slots 13 and 14 through which may be threaded the backing sheet 15 of a calendar pad 16 to hold it in position on the cover frame 4 as shown in Figure 8.
Secured to or formed integral with the base 1 is a tongue 17 that is provided with a curved recess portion 18, and 19 indicates a mating curved member having an outturned end 20, said members forming a clamp to engage the standard A of a telephone instrument or may be secured to any other suitable support, said members 17 and 19 being held in clamped relation by means of screw bolts 21 and nuts 22. 23 indicates a pencil or pen clip secured to one of the side flanges 5, a pencil being shown at B, Figure 2, engaged in the clip. 24 indicates a pointed tongue secured to the flange 6 and providing a sticker file to hold memorandums that it is desired to retain.
What is claimed is 1. A loose sheet memorandum pad holder, comprising a base adapted to support superposed loose sheets, a cover frame engaging said sheets and having an opening therein providing a Writing space on the uppermost sheet, said frame having depending flanges on its sides and one end engaging corresponding edges of the base to guide the frame for gravity adjustment, the base extending beyond the corresponding edge of the remaining side of the frame forming a space for the removal of the sheets from under the frame, the side flanges extended beyond the last mentioned edge of the frame and beyond the corresponding edge of the base and provided With reentrant portions spaced from said last mentioned edge of the frame, and the extremities of said reentered portion-sbeing remote from one another to provide a space to engage edges of the sheets for removal through the space aforesaid.
2. A loose sheet memorandum pad holder, comprising a base having an opening therein, said base being adapted to support superposed loose sheets, a cover frame engaging said sheets and having an opening therein providing a Writing space on the uppermost sheet, a tongue on said frame engaging in the openingin the base, said tongue engaging one of the edges of the loose sheets to limit their movement in one direction, depending fianges on the sides of the frame engaging corresponding edges of the base and cooperating With the tongue to guide the frame for gravity adjustment, the side flanges extended and provided With reentrant portions spaced from the frame atthe end remote from the flanged end, and having their extremities spaced to permit removal of sheets from under the frame.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature.
