PATENT OFFICE WRIST-WATCH PROTECTOR FOR BATEERS Application filed June 11 1928. Serial). 284,640.

This invention relates to a new and useful device in the nature of a watch rotector especially adapted for use by bat ers.

The object of the invention is to provide a watch protector adapted to be worn on the wrist ofthe bather and is of band like construction having a pocket or compartment adapted to accommodate and hold the watch. The said pockethaving an opening covered by a transparent member so as to render the dial of the watch visible.

Another object of the invention is to provide a protector of water proof construction so as to protect the watch from water when the person wearing same is in bathing.

A further object of the invention is to provide a protector having raised or entended longitudinal edges afli'ording protection to the watch placed therein as a means of preventing injury and damage to the said watch which might otherwise be caused due to the violent movement of the arms ofthe bather.

As here embo ied my improved watch protector comprises an inner member 10, of any desired width depending upon the size or diameter of the watch ll-which my improved device is adapted to accommodate. The inner member 10 is substantially of continuous band shape construction, referably of molded rubber, composition rub er or the like. The outer edges of the inner member 10 are formed so as to provide rolled edges 12 and- 13, so as to rovide a suitable reinforoement and whic tend to urge the said outer edges of the inner member inwardly against the wrist of the wearer of my im proved device so as to prevent misplacemen't thereof.

The outer member 14 is of continuous band shape construction, approximately of similar width to the main portion of the above mentioned inner member 10. The outer member 14 is of similar material to the said inner member and is positioned or placed on the outer surface of the inner member 10, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, and

is suitably secured thereto, by vulcanizing or with any suitable cement mixture or the like. An opening 15 is provided intermediate a portion of one edge of the outer and

10 and 14, so as to permit the watch 11 to be inserted there through, as clearly shown in Fig. 5.

The-above described construction is such as will provide a compartment 15 or space intermediate the said inner and outer member adapted to receive the said Watch. The outer member, 14 has formed or cut therein an aperture or opening, positioned therein at the compartment adapted to provide for the viewing of the said watch. The said aperture is suitably covered with a transparent member 16, preferably of celluloid, or any similar transparent material such as is manufactured and marketed as a substitute for .the said celluloid.

The latter described construction is such as will permit the dial of the watch 11 to be visible to the person wearing my improved device.

17 and 18 of similar sprin steel construction are suitably lhe said closing members are positioned or placed adjacent to each other or side by side as clearly shown in Fig. 7 and are so positioned so as to have the raised portion of one opposite the depressed portion'of the other.

17 and 18 are positioned or placed in the rolled edge 13 of the above mentioned inner member 10 and in the vicinity of the opening 15, so as to normally urge the adjacent edge of the outer member 14 against the said main portion of the inner member 10 so as to provide a water tight joint at the above mentioned opening 15, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, as a means of preventing water from entering the compartment in which the watch 11 is placed.

Fig. 2 illustrates the closed condition of the watch compartment. In this condition the free edge of the outer member 14 which constitutes the front edge of the pocket is disposed beneath the rolled edge 13. When the pocket is opened the material 14 is drawn out from beneath the rolled edge so that it is above the rolled edge as illustrated in Fig.

5. Then the watch may be withdrawn. The

pocket may be closed by slightly opening the rolled edge outwards and inserting the free edge of the member 14 beneath it.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as-new and desire to protect by Let {ers Patent of the United States is as fol ows:

In a wrist watch protector for bathers, an

elastic band with one of its edges rolled, an

outer elastic band upon said band and secured thereto all along its entire surface except for a small portion constituting a pocket having its entrance beneath said rolled edge, and resilient are shaped members within the rolled edge for applying closing pressure to the opening of said ocket.
