Application February 26, 1940, Serial No. 320,918 2 Claims. (01. 2' 1c3) The invention relates to a glove and more especially to a glove having transparent tips throughout the thumb and finger stalls.

The primary object of the invention is the pro vision of a glove of this character wherein the thumb and finger stalls carry transparent tips for displaying the nails of the thumb and fingers of a hand of a person and also protecting these when the glove is worn to eliminate the accidental breakin of the nails and at the same time allowing visibility thereof while the glove is being worn.

Another object of the invention is the prov1- sion of a glove of this character wherein the tips of the stalls will wholly or partially enclose the nail ends of the fingers and thumb of a person when wearing the glove so that the pads of the tips of the fingers will be either exposed or covered while the nails of the thumb and finger will be protected and visibility thereof had while the glove is upon the hand.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a glove of this character wherein the tips of the finger and thumb stalls are constructed in a novel manner and may be imitativ of the natural fingernails or to expose these while the glove is worn by the hand and thus the natural nails will be covered yet can be seen during the wearing of the glove and such coverage assures protection to the natural nails for avoiding the breaking or otherwise damaging of the same during the wearing of the glove.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a glove of this character, which is simple in its construction both in the preferred and modified forms thereof, reliable and efficient in operation, neat in appearance, possessing durability, and inexpensive to manufacture.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred and modified forms of em.- bodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Figure 1 is a rear elevation of a glove constructed in accordance with the invention and worn upon the hand of a person.

Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.

Referring to the drawing in detail, particularly Figures 1 to 5, inclusive, A designates generally the glove, which may be made from any suitable material, and as usual is formed with the thumb and finger stalls I0 and II, respectively, these accommodating the thumb and fingers of a hand when the glove is worn thereby. The stalls IO and II at the ends thereof are cut to form openings at the flesh and nail sides of the thumb and fingers of the hand, these openings being separated by a tip-saddling web I2, which is a part of each stall. Accommodated in the opening at the nail side of each stall is a transparent piece l3 which is cut imitative in shape of the natural nail of a finger or thumb and is outwardly arched so as to match the natural nail of the thumb or finger to permit of exposure thereof or the visibility of the same when the glove is worn and at the same time effect a protective covering for the natural nail. The other opening in each stall exposes the padded or skin side [4 at the tip or end of the thumb or finger therethrough during the wearing of the glove A. These openings at their edges are turned over and stitched throughout the turned-over portion as at l5, the stitches being effective for the fastening of the piece l3 in its companion opening and to the stall of the glove. Thus the edges of these openings will be reinforced or doubled on themselves for increasing the wearing quality at such points of the glove.

In Figure 6 of the drawing there is shown a modification of the invention wherein each stall I6 is cut diagonally as at I1 transversely of the said stall and fastened in the opening formed by this cutting of the stall is a transparent piece I8, shaped imitative of the natural nail of the finger or thumb of a hand and'this piece at opposite sides I9 thereof is continued for a distance of the sides of the stall [B to assure efiective coverage of the natural nail of the finger or thumb and yet expose the tip 20 of the finger or thumb at the skin or pad side thereof.

In Figures 8 and 9 of the drawing there is shown a still further'modification of the in vention wherein the separated openings at the free end of the stall have their edges folded over and stitched as at 2|. The stitches 2| for the edge of the opening located at the nail side of the finger of a hand engage the sides 22 and outer end 23, respectively, of a transparent enclosure piece 24 for coverage of the natural nail of the thumb or finger of the hand and the housing or confinement of the same.

In Figures 10, 11 and 12 of the drawing there is shown a further modification wherein the transparent enclosure piece 25 for the natural nail of the finger or thumb has its inner end at the sides and top thereof joined with the edging of the open end 26 of a stall 21. This enclosure piece is made from a single blank 28 cut and folded on itself into the shape shown in Figures 10, 11 and 12. The cuts and fold lines in this blank 28 are denoted at 29 and 30, respectively. The pad or skin side 3! of a finger will be exposed without the enclosure 25 when confining the natural nail of the said finger therein.

What is claimed is:

1. A glove having stalls for reception of a thumb and fingers of a hand, and transparent tips associated with the stalls at the outer extremities thereof for exhibiting the entire fingernails upon the thumb and fingers, the said stalls being partially cut away at the tips thereof for exposing padded skin sides of the said thumb and fingers.

2. A glove having stalls for reception of a thumb and fingers of a hand, transparent tips associated with the stalls at the outer extremities thereof for exhibiting the entire fingernails upon the thumb and fingers, the said stalls being partially cut away at the tips thereof for exposing padded skin sides of the said thumb and fingers, and reinforcements created at the tips and effecting a jointure of the said tips with the stalls.
