This invention relates to childrens garments and more particularly to a one-piece buttonless garment.

An object of the invention is to provide a garment of this character which may be quickly donned or removed and which is eX- tremely simple in construction.

This object is attained by providing a garment consisting of a dress, which is slitted on each side from its bottom to a point intermediate the waist line and armhole, and a pair of bloomers, having the front part of its waistband stitched to the front part of the dress at the waist line thereof and an elastic band in the rear part of the waistband. In the drawings:

Figure 1 is a rear perspective view of a childs garment embodying our invention, a part of the dress being turned upwardly to expose the undergarment which has a part of its waistband broken away to expose an elastic element therein, and

The dress 3 consists of a front part A and a rear part5 connected at the tops of the shoulders 6. The two parts may be integral or be stitched together at this point. The front and rear parts are secured to each other beneath the armholes 7, as shown by the seam 8, leaving a front skirt 9 and a rear skirt 10,

' which may be divided up to a point above the waist line.

A pair of bloomers 11 are provided w th a 5 waistband 12, the front part of which 1s secured to front part 4 bystitches 13 at substantially the waist line of the garment. An elastic element 14, such as a piece of ribbon elastic, is disposed in the rear part 15 of the waistband and has its ends secured in place,

as by stitches 16.

In donning the garment, the dress is placed upon the child in the usual manner, the rear skirt turned upwardly, and the childs legs inserted in the bloomers which are then drawn upwardly into position for use where they are held by the elastic element. There is thus produced a combination garment which remains in position without the use of fasteners of any kind.

Unless the dress is made quite full, it should be divided to a point above the waist line and, in practice, we find it advisable that the slits extend to point 17 approximately halfway between the waist line and the bottoms of the arm holes. The garment may be finished as desired but the skirts have been shown provided with a binding 18 which is preferably continuous around the slits in order to prevent ripping of seams 8.

While we have illustrated and described a preferred embodiment of our invention, it is understood that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit thereof and, hence, we do not wish to limit ourselves to the precise construction set forth but consider that we are at liberty to makesuch changes and alterations as fairly come within the scope of the appended claims.

W e claim:

1. A one-piece buttonless garment having arm holes including a dress divided at the sides to a point above the waist line and closed from this point to the arm holes, a pair of bloomers having a waistband secured to the front of the dress at the waist line thereof, and an elastic element in the rear part of the waistband.

2. A one piece buttonless garment having arm holes and including a dress divided at the sides to a point above the waist line and closed from this point to the arm holes, a pair of permanently formed bloomers having a waistband secured to the front of the dress at the waist line thereof and an element in the rear part of the waistband for drawing the bloomers to the body of the wearer.

3. A one piece buttonless wearing apparel having openings in its top and including a dress divided at the sides to a point above the waistline and closed from this point to the nearest opening, bloomers having a waistband secured to the front of the dress substantially at the waist line and an elastic element in the waistband.
