Specification forming part of Letters PatentNo. l 73, [76, dated February 8, 1876; application filed November 8, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. NIoHOLs, of East Hampton, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements Pertaining ,eye, having a loop at the lower end to receive the loop of the tongue, and a screw-body above, which runs up through the strap into the thill.
The top of the bell has a bed or socket, f, for
the loop of the screw-eye, so that a person can turn the screw-eye in or out by turning the bell, and this socket causes the screw-eye to hold the bell more firmly to the thill than it otherwise would.
I claim as myinvention- In combination, the bell c, havin g the socket f, the tongue d, and vscrew-eye 6, adapted to hold the tongue in place, and a convenient and ready means of attachment to the shaft,
all substantially as and for the purpose set forth. I
