IMPROVEMENTIN PLATFORM WAGON "I'RESTLESIl Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,725, dated January 25, 1876; application filed September 20, 1875.
To all yl1/wm 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, LAUREN M. FITCH, ot' Leonardsville, in the county of Ma-dison and State ot' New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Platform Wagon Trestle; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form part ot' this speciiication.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a wagontrestle, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a plan View of my improved wagon-trestle. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same.
Arepresents a wood strip bent in nearly semicircular form, and having two other bent wooden strips, B B, secured to its rear or convex side, the outer ends of said wood strips B being connected by across-bar, C.
On the sides of the wooden strips A B are fastened iron strips D D', as shown, by means of bolts. i These irons, being turned up edgewise, give great strength, and at the same time give lightness of appearance.
The irons D extend beyond the ends of the strip A, and form each one section of the clevis a, while the irons D' also extend beyond said ends and form the other half, a', or section ofthe clevis.
E is a bar connecting the cross-bar C and center of the bent strips A, between the strips B B. Gis the bed-piece, secured on top of the trestle. and on the same is the circle H.
Havin thus fully described my invention, what I c aim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the strips A and B B, the irons D D, secured upon the strips B B, and extended beyond the saine, as shown at a, and the irons D D', secured to the strip A, and extended beyond the ends of the same, as shown at et', to form clevises for connecting the trestle, all as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LAUREN M. FITCH.
