BILLFOLD AND COIN HOLDER.

Application filed August 10, 1926. Serial No. 128,499.

This invention relates to billfolds and coin holders, and particularly to the class in which a coin holder structure is attached to a billfold and is adapted to be indepemlently closable by means of attached covers.

The main object of this invention is to provide a billfold with a coin holder body which is furnished with various chambers of novel form to house coins of ditferent sizes and other small articles, and having proper covers for said chambers to render the whole self contained and compact.

Further objects and the advantages of my invention and its novel features will appear hereinafter as this specification proceeds.

In the accompanying drawings forming part hereof:-

Throughout the views, the same reference numerals indicate the same parts or duplicates thereof.

In the practice of my invention I cmloy a formed or east block 1 as a coin liolder, furnishing the same with three coin chambers 2, 3 and 4 on one side and with the long chamber 16 shown on the other side. The chambers are each furnished with a bottom as at 5, while the coin chambers have a finger opening similar to 6 at their forward edges, while on either side of these openings the edges are raised to form retaining flanges as at 7 and 8. A cover 11 is hinged at 18 to the body 1 to serve as a closure for the coin chambers, and has a pair of similar ends 14 and 15 which are adapted to envelope the ends of the holder body in closed position.

The coin chambers are separated by means of partitions 35 and 36. while the cover is also provided with partition ribs 12 and 13 to retain more efiicient separation of contained coins when opening the holder. But in order to accommodate the cover partitions, a pair of slots and 34 have been cut into the body partitions, and in closed position are adapted to contain parts 13 and 12, respectively. As a snap lock on the coin cover 11, a spring projection 10 has been provided, and a depression 9 on the coin holder has been formed to correspond therewith, the snap-casily falling into place upon closing the cover, while a slight lift of the spring by a finger nail will release the same for opening thesame cover.

In the other side of the coin body is a long chamber 16 already mentioned, which may be used for small toilet articles or the lilce, and this chamber is provided with a sliding cover 21 and has along the edges thereof a pair of corresponding retaining edges 17 and 19 to hold the cover in place A projection spring is located on the side of this cover at 22 and a corresponding cut 23 has been made in the side edge 17 into which the spring may drop when the cover is drawn into closed position, while a slight lift of the spring will allow the cover to be slid in either direction for access to the chamber.

Thus far, the coin holder appears self contained, but a billfold 24 is adapted to be attached to the same by means of rivets or common snaps, the snap parts in the body being noted 20, 30, 31, and 38, and the parts corresponding respectively to the same on the billfold being 39, 41, 4:0 and 42. The billfold is provided with a long bill pocket 29, and with a central card pocket at 26, the opening being cut in as at 25 for convenience in reaching the contents. A second part, a flap 28 is attached to the end and one side of the fold for unusual accessibility of its contents, and is snapped open or closed at 27. A snap part 32 is located on the end of the billfold to correspond with an outer snap part indicated at 37 for the purpose of retaining the billfold in closed. condition when desired, the part 37 being located on the underside of the fold which is not seen. The idea is, of course, that the billfold,when attached to the coin holder as shown in the first View, is adapted to be folded about the holder to completely envelope the same, and the snap parts 32 and 37 snapped together to retain the whole in compact assembly.

Having now fully described'my invention, I claim 1. The combination with a coin holder and a billfold adapted to be folded about said coin holder, of means for detachably securing said coin holder to the inner side of said billfold in order to prevent loss of the coin holder when attached, and to permit the billfold to be'foldcd alone when detached.

2. A combined pocket case and coin holder including a casing having a relatively long chamber along one side thereof, a plurality of relatively smaller chambers arranged along the other side so as to substantially sum up to the same length as said long chamber, a cover for the latter having a means to retain the same closed, a common cover for simultaneously enveloping said smaller chambers hinged to the casing between the latter chambers and said long chamber, individual walls for each of said smaller chambers disposed between each adjacent pair of the latter, and a plurality of partitions located upon said cover and arranged to project between the walls of the smaller chambers to further separate and close said chambers in closed posit-ion.

3. The combination with a coin holder and a billfold adapted to envelop said coin holder, of means for detachably securing said coin holder to said billfold including one or more snap members upon the inner side of said billfold and corresponding snap members on the underside of said coin holder to engage said first snap members.

4. A combined coin holder and pocket case including a coin holder body having a plurality of chambers arranged in a row and opening upward and to one edge of the body, a pair of individual walls arranged to bound the sides of each chamber so that a channel is produced between each adjacent pair of chambers, a cover hinged to said holder body for closing both the upper and the edge openings in said chambers, said cover having an enveloping edge to engage three sides of said holder body, and individual reinforcing partitions upon said cover arranged to individually enter into said channels to separate and efiectively close said chambers when the cover is closed.
