One object of my invention resides in the pros vision of a combined purse and bill fold which may be folded to. a package or unit of a size sums ciently small to be carried in a mans pocket and Which has a plurality of separate compartments for containing bills, coins, cards, tickets, papers, charge plates and other objects commonly carried in an item of this character.

A further object of my invention is to provide a receptacle of the above described character which is relatively simple and compact and which is not only attractive in its appearance and pracs tical in its value but also reliable in its opera? tion.

My improved flexible receptacle is constructed to secure bank notes and the like so that they may be singly or collectively removed while the book is in an open or even in a partly closed corndition, to provide a pouch for coins, access to which may be had by partially opening the folded item, and to provide means for containing cards, railroad tickets, and other similar articles.

vWith the foregoing and various other novel features and advantages and other objects of my invention as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will hereinafter be more particularly pointed out in the claim hereunto annexed and more fully described and referred to in connection with th accompanying drawings wherein: I

Referring now to the drawing more in detail, the invention will be fully described. Like numerals in different figures of the drawing refer to like parts.

The component; parts of the bill fold may be made of leather or any other suitable flexible material such as cloth, rubber or the like.

An outer member which forms the outer wall of the bill fold is rectangular or elongated in shape and is provided intermediate its ends with a transverse line of fold E2.

t the midpoints between the opposite ends of the outer member and the fold it! thereof are other transverse lines of fold it and it so as to provide first, second, third and fourth quarter sections numbered 26, 22, il and 2t respectively, which may be folded as to each other to form a package, as best shown in Fig. 2.

The various quarter sections may be folded as to each other along their respective fold lines so that the third and fourth quarter sections, 24 and 2e respectively, when in their folded relation adjacent each other, may be brought into further adjacency between the first and second quarter, sections 253 and 22 respectively, which are in turn folded as to each other so that the various sections when in their folded or closed positions form a neat and compact package and are related to each other as shown in Fig. 2.

An inner member is stitched at 62'? at one of its extremities along and adjacent the fold line 52, and on the inside of the outer member. This inner member is rectangular or elongated in shape and it is stitched throughout the length of the lower end to the outer member, as aforesaid. The inner member is provided intermediate its ends with a transverse line of fold 32 so as to provide thereby a pair of relatively foldable inner sections 3t and (it, as shown in Fig. 3. These sections may be superposed upon the inside surfaces of the sections 2 9 and 22 of the outer member when the outer and inner members are in their relative open positions.

The inner member when folded along its fold line 32 is adapted to lie within and relative to the outer member so that section 84 is dis osed between sections 22 and 23 of the outer mourber. Section 36 may be disposed on section with section 25 against section 34.

A rear wall member 40 on section 22 has opposite retaining side edges 59 stitched at 55 to the sides of said section 22 and a lower edge stitched at 43 to said section along and adjacent the line of fold I2 providing a first pocket open on the upper side across the structure as viewed in Fig. 3. An upper portion of said member is turned over and downwardly with a lower edge secured between

22 and 34 along and adjacent the line of fold [2 providing a space 52 for cards or the like open at opposite ends at the sides of the device.

Side portions of the turned over portions of member 49 have marginal edges secured to section 34 and are formed as gussets 42 providing a second pocket open at its upper side.

Extending laterally from one side of member 2% is a primary fiap E59 which is Stitched at 972 throughout its length on one side thereof to one side of the member 24 and is adapted to overlie bills or checks or the like when same are superposed upon the sections 3 5, 24 and 28 prior to closure.

If desired, the flap may be of the card retaining type and may be provided on one of its sides with a cellophane window at or the like in a centrally disposed opening therein, access to the rear side of which may be made through a slot in one side of the flap in the well known manner for purposes of holding additional cards.

A primary button means it of the conventional snap fastener type may be fixed to the member 35 for engagement with a button receiving means '52 fixed to the member 2% so that the portion of the device containing the bills may be held in the locked or closed position while the portion of the device containing the change purse may be held in the open position.

A secondary button means it of the snap fastener type may be fixed to the member 23 for engagement with a button receiving means 19 on the member 355 so that the portion of the device containing the change purse may be held in the closed position while the portion of the device containing the bills may be held in the open position.

Thus it will be observed that the two separate portions of the device may be opened independently of each other. That is to say, to place coins in the pocket book so that it is securely held therw i in while at the same time they may be removed without the necessity of opening the book entirely, the snap fastener it may be released from the botton receiving means E5 and the member 20 may be unfolded upwardly and rearwardly so as to expose not only the primary or change pocket containing the change but also the secondary or card pocket containing the charge plate.

When and if it is desired to remove only bills from the bill fold, it is but necessary to open indicated by the appended claim rather than by the foregoing description, and all modifications and variations as fall within the meaning and purview and range of equivalency of the appended claim are therefore intended to be embraced therein.

What it is desired to claim and secure by Letters Patent of the'United States is:

A combined billfold and pocket-book construction comprising in combination, an elongated outer member having a transverse intermediate fold line and end fold lines spaced longitudinally therefrom dividing said member into first and second and third and fourth sections, an inner member having a transverse fold line forming inner and outer sections, said inner section overlying said second section and having a lower transverse edge secured to said outer member adjacent said intermediate fold line, a flap member overlying said third section and having one side edge thereof secured to one side edge of said third section, said fourth section being foldable onto said flap member and said third section being foldable relative to said second section whereby said fourth section may be superposed on said inner section, said outer section being foldable onto said third section, said outer section and third section being provided with releasable engaging fastening rneans, an intermediate member between said second section and inner section having lower and upper portions, a lower edge of said lower portion of said intermediate member being secured to said second section adjacent the intermediate fold line and opposite side edges thereof secured to opposite side edges of said second section and forming therewith a first pocket open at the upper side thereof, the upper portion of said intermediate member extending downwardly from the upper edge of the lower portion and between the lower portion of said intermediate member and said inner section and having a lower edge secured therebetween adjacent said intermediate fold line and provided with opposite side portions in the form of gussets having free side edges secured to side edges of said inner section, the lower and upper portions of said intermediate member forming a card space therebetween and transversely of the structure open at its opposite ends, the upper portion of said intermediate member and said inner section forming a second pocket open at its upper side, said first section adapted to overlie the outer side of said outer section, and releasable securing means carried by said sections whereby they may be secured over the pockets.
