T. E. BRENAN COLLECTORS BOOK COVER AND WALLET.
APPLICATION FILED JAN. 9. 1920.

UNITED STATES THOMAS EWING BRENAN, OF NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA. I
COLLECTOR'S BOOK-COVER AND WALLET.
Application filed January 9, 1920. Serial No. 350,289.
I '0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS E. BRENAN, a citizen. of the United States, residing at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collectors Book-Covers and Wallets, of whichthe following is a specification.
This invention relates to folders, and has for an object to provide a device embodying new and improved features for receiving and retaining articles of various kinds and types for convenient access during the use of the folder.
. A further object of the invention is to provide a folder especially adapted, but not limited, to the use of collectors of industrial insurance premiums, and presenting coinpartments, receptacles and pockets for the receipt of various devices, implements and currency required by such use and in co1npact accessible form.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, on which similar reference characters indicate similar parts, which are made a part hereof,
Figure 1 is a view of the folder extended, some of the pockets and receptacles being shown open,
Fig. 2 is a View of the folder from verse side also extended, and
Fig. 3 is a view of the folder closed.
The folder comprises a strip of material 10 preferably of leather or the like extending the entire length of the folder when extended as shown at Figs. 1 and 2. This strip of material forms the body of the device and to the opposite sides of which are secured the various pockets and receptacles. Upon one side is secured a pocket 11, having a flap 12 with fastening members 13. The pocket 11 is preferably constructed of the size and proportion to receive bank and treasury notes ordinarily known as paper money in its extended condition. Upon the flap 13, by reason of the proportion of the device relative to the proportion of the notes, a pencil-holding tube 14 is secured.
At the end of the strip 10 opposite the pocket 11 a plurality of coin'pockets 15 are provided, preferably by employing a continuous strip of material stitched at 16 to the strip 10. Each of the coin pockets 15 is provided with a flap 17 and fastening member 18 for securing such pockets in the re- Specification of Letters Patent.
" that the size will be determined by rat ntednov. 16, 1920.
closed condition. At Fig. 1 four of the pockets'are shown, three in closed condition and one in" open condition. It is to be understood of course that the four pockets as shown at Fig. 1, are the correct number of pockets to be employed with the device proortioned for the. pocket 11 to receive notes. hile the device may be made in any other shape and size, increasing or decreasmg the number of pockets 15, itwill be apparent the sizes of the coins to be contained therein and the general size of the folder.
Upon the face of the strip 10 opposite the pockets 11 and 15, pockets 19 and 20 are secured. Preferably the pockets 19 and 20 are of substantially equal size and are intended-to be of such siZe as to permit the insertion, in either one, of the cover of the book 21 upon one side, and papers, as for instance policy blanks 22, upon the other side.
The entire device is secured together by stitchings 23 around the edges and through the pockets and receptacles upon opposite sides of the strip 10.
The entire device is secured in closed condition, folded either side in, by means of tabs 24 secured upon opposite ends of the strip 10 with fastening members 25 for securing the tabs together. By this means the device may be folded with the book inside as shown at Fig. 3 or reversely with the money pockets 11 and 15 inside and the pockets 19 and 20 on the outside. While the device has been designed for use in collecting industrial insurance premiums as hereinbefore stated, it is obvious that it may be varied in size to correspond to the requirements for collections in any line or for a variety of purposes where change of money is required and records kept, provision being made for accommodating record books, money, pencil, and the like.
Having'thus described my said invention, what I claim'as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A collectors book cover and Wallet comprising a strip of material folded along a transverse line intermediate its ends, a bookcover-receivingpocket formed upon one side of one section and a similar pocket formed upon the same side of the opposite section, a pocket formed upon the side opposite the first mentioned pocket proportioned to receive bank notes and having a flap with fastening members for securing the flap in closed position, a pencil receiving pocket formed above the last mentioned pocket, a plurality of individual coin-receiving pocket-sot Varying Widths corresponding to the widths of the coins to be contained therein formed upon the last mentioned side and upon the opposite section, each of said last mentioned pockets being provided With individual flaps and fastening members, and means to secure the device in closed position folded either Way upon its said transverse line. 7
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at New Orleans, Louisi- 15 ana, this 31st day of December, A. D. nineteen hundred and nineteen.
