PATENT OFFICE.
SIDNEY F. PATRICK, OF RICI-ILAND, MICHIGAN.
FOLDER.
Application filed August 14, 1922. Serial" No. 581,821.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, SIDNEY F. PATRICK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Richland, in the county of Kalamazoo and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Folders, of which the followlng is a specification.
This invention relates to a pocket-book, the general object of the invention being to provide means for carrying a check book and other articles for facilitating the writing of checks and the like.
Another object of the invention is to attach a calendar to a part of the pocket-book and to provide receptacles for carrying cards and the like.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a face view of a pocket-book constructed in accordance with my invention and showing the same in open position.
Figure 2 is a view with the pocket-book in partly closed position.
Figure 3 is a view with the pocket-book in closed position.
Figure 4 is rear view of the pocket-book.
Figure 5 is a section on line 55 of Figure 1.
Figure 6 is a section on line 66 of Figure 1.
As shown in these views the pocket-book is provided with apair of aligned flaps 1 and 2, one flap being adapted to be folded upon the other, and a closing flap 3. This flap is adapted to be placed over the flap 2 when the same has been placed upon the flap 1 and said flap 3 is provided with a strap 1 which is adapted to engage slots 5 on the outer face of the flap 1. This will hold the pocket-book in closed position. Flap 1 is provided with a strap 6 under which one end of a check book A is adapted to be passed.
Flap 2 isprovided with a pocket 8 for receiving the front cover a of the check book. This arrangementof parts will permit the book to be closed and opened as the flaps are closed and opened. Flap 2 is also provided with a pocket 9 for receiving envelopes or the like, and the cover of this pocket is provided with corner slots 10 for supporting a blotter 11 thereon. This blotter will engage the check when the flaps are closed. The cover flap 3 is formed with a large pocket 12 and the cover of this pocket has secured thereto a calendar 13 and a small pocket 14. A pencil or pen can be carried at the top of the checkbook at the junction of flaps 1 and 3.
This invention will permit a person to easily and quickly write out a check as he will have the date before him on the calendar and the check can be blotted after being written by folding the flap 2 upon the flap 1. The second pocket 9 in flap 2 can be used for holding the canceled checks and after the checks have been used up the canceled checks can be pasted to the stubs of the check book. The calendar can also be marked with engagement dates.
It is thought from the foregoing descrip tion that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A pocketbook of the class described comprising a pair of aligned flaps, one adapted to be folded upon the other, a strap on one flap for engaging a part of a check book, a pocket in the other flap for receiving another part of the check book, a closing flap connected with one of the other flaps, means for holding the flaps in closing position and a blotter carried by the pocket forming part of the second flap and arranged to contact with the topmost check in the check book when said second flap is placed on the first flap.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature.
SIDNEY F. PATRICK.
