Description
enerrs'r w. WALLMUTH, or nnern, ILLINOIS.
LETTEIRrSHEF-T, ENVELOP, COIN-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters iatent.
Application filed August 14, 19-18. Serial No. 249,859.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, AUGUST W. WALL- MUT a citizen of the United States, residing at Elgin, in the county of Kane and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Letter-Sheets, Envelops, and Coin-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relatesto stationery, particularly to letter sheets, and has for its ob ject the provision of a letter sheet formed in the nature of a subscription blank or order sheet, this sheet being foldable upon itself and having certain portions formed to provide flaps whereby the folded sheet may be sealed to form, itself, an envelop, the sheet being further provided with an auxiliary portion foldable to form apocket for holding coins.
A very important object is the provision of a letter sheet of this character which will be extremely simple and inexpensive in manufacture, highly eflicient in use, and a general improvement of the art.
With the above and other objects and advantages in view, the invention consistsin the details of construction to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a view of the letter sheet with all its parts in extended positions.
Fig. 2 is a similar view showing a portion of one end of the sheet folded to form a coin holding pocket.
Fig. 3 is a view showing the sheet folded and only the flaps in extended positions and Fig. 4 is a similar view showing the flaps arranged in theirsealing positions.
Referring more particularly to the drawing the numeral 5 designates a sheet of paper which is transversely scored along the lines 6 and 7 to define panels 8 and 9. Flaps 10 are formed upon the ends of the panel 8 by scoring the panel 8 along the line 11. A flap 12 is formed on one longitudinal edge of the panel 8 and extends from the line of scoring 6. The panel 8 together with the flaps 10 and 12 cooperates with the panel 9 for forming an envelop as will be hereinafter described.
The panel 9 is scored upon the line 13 to provide an auxiliary panel 1 which is scored along the diagonal lines 15-as shown. This auxiliary panel 1 1 is designed to be folded to form a coin holding pocket.
It will be understood of course that the letter sheet may be used for any desired purpose, so in the present instance I have shown the panel 9 as formed in the nature of a subscription or order blank; Any desired matter may appear upon the panel 8, of course, and the other side of the panel 8 is adapted to bear the address.
In order that the letter sheet may be used as a coin holder, the auxiliary panel 1 1-is folded upon itself along the lines 15 to define a-triangular pocket, as shown in Fig. 2. The coins may then be inserted within this pocket, after which the pocket is folded over along the line 13 to lie upon the panel 9.
In order to seal the device, the panel 9 together with the coin holding pocket is folded over upon the panel 8, after which the flaps 10 and 12 are folded over upon the panel 9 along the lines 11 and 6 as clearly Patented June 10, 1919..
shown in 'Fig. 4, it being understood of course that the flaps 10 and 12 are gummed. The device when thus folded and sealed will present the appearance of an ordinary envelop and will effectually retain the coins disposed therein so that loss thereof will be prevented.
From the foregoing description and astudy of the drawings it will be apparent that I have thus provided in a single sheet a combined subscription or order blank, coin holding pocket and envelop.
What is claimed is:
A device of the character described comprising a. sheet of material transversely scored to provide a plurality of panels and a flap, the panel opposite the flap being longer than the other panel, the panel ad jacent Said p being Scored at ght angles to said first named lines of scoring to produce end fla s, the other of said panels be- 1ng scored at one side in alinement w1th one Enaoaeav of said second named lines of scoring to named paneL-said second named panel be ing foldable onto said'first named panel and said first and second named flaps being foldable onto said second named panel to provide a closure. In testimony whereof I afix my signature AUGUST W. NALLMU'IH,
