In the accompanying drawings, in which is illustrated a preferred embodiment of the invention, the three unit wallet includesa wallet comprising an outer wall I provided at its ends with pocket forming members 2, having at their upper portions flaps 3 which are folded downwardly and inwardly over the end portions of an inner wall 4. The outer wall, the pocket forming members and the flaps are formed from a blank illustrated in Fig. 8 of the drawings of flexible sheet material such as leather, but any other suitable material may, of course, be employed in the manufacture of the three unit wallet. The upper marginal portion 5 of the outer wall I is folded, inwardly and adhesively secured to the inner face of the wall to form its smooth upper edge whichiextends from one end of the wallet to the other. The lower marginal portion 6 is folded upwardly bers 2 after the latter are folded inwardly to form pockets.

The flaps 3 of the pocket forming members are provided at their ends adjacent the inner side edges with vertical slit l and: have 110 6011856111 their inner side edges adjacent the inner ends of.

the slits to provide tongues 9 which engagehorizontal slots in the end portion of the inner wall 4 when the flaps are folded downwardly and in-. wardly against the innersface thereof, the notches 8 forming. an interlockwith the inner ends of the SIOCSJQ;

The-flaps 3 of pocket for-ming members ,arepro: videdadjacent theterminal portions of theupper edge-iof the-outer. wall with slits l I extending in.- wardlyhorizontally in alignment with..theI,upper edgei'of the outerwalland then downwardly and outwardly to form inclined portions l2.which un.- derlie the horizontal portions of the.slits,. and the flaps are folded downwardly and inwardlyto provide a--fold .:l3 at the-lower ends of the inclined portions of'the slits. Theslittin of the pocket forming members provides inner wall portions l4 having horizontal upper edges and. inclined inner edges which extend downwardly and outwardly beneath-the upper edges of the inner wall portions. These inner wall portions Mare stitched at their upper horizontal edges to the outer wall at the upper edge thereof and they form pockets which are arranged to be engaged. by the ends of the removable bill holder for retaining the same against. accidental. displacement. When the removable; bill1holder is-atthe downward limit of its. movement and is.- adjacent the inner face of the. inner wall, it will beseen, as-clearly illustrated in Fig. 6 of the drawings, that the opening of-thewallet at the upper edge of the inner wall is ofslightly greater length than the length of the removable bill holder and. the latterisadapted to be introduced into thewallet by a straight downward movement and-may be removed from the wallet by a'straight upward movement without bending or canting the removable bill-holder. When the removable bill holder is arranged contiguous to the inner face of the-outer wall, the

upper corners of the bill holder are located in the pockets. formed by the ends of the outer'wall and the inner wall portions l4 and the bill holder is held against accidental displacement. Inaddition to adhesively securing the upper and'lower marginal portions 5 and 6 of theouter-wall, these portions are also preferably stitched to the'adjacent portions of the wallet.

The pocket forming. members which are formed integral with the ends of the outer wall are folded inwardly horizontally over the inner wall to form pockets which are arranged exteriorly of the inner wall and which are open at their inner ends and closed. at the top by the flaps which are folded downwardly and inwardly against the. inner face of the inner Wall. The lower edges of the pocket forming members. are secured by an adhesive and also by stitching beneath the lower upturned marginal portion 6 of the outer wall. The inner end edges 5 at the entrances to the pockets are preferably curved inwardly and present concave inner end edges which facilitate the removal of the contents of the'pockets andthe introductionofcards and the like into the pockets.

The removable bill holder, which constitutes the second unit of the wallet, comprises in its construction an oblong outer wall l6, an inner wall I! and a pocket forming member H3. The upper marginal portion [9 of the outer wall is folded inwardly and downwardly and adhesively secured to the inner face of the outer wall to provide a smooth upper edge and the said outer wall may be provided with a slrive reinforcement adhesively-securedto the inner face of the outer wall. The innerwall I? is preferably tapered slightly, asshown, and is provided with a vertical slot 20 which is engaged by a tongue 2! of the flap22,.of. the pocket forming member I8 which consists of a substantially oblong piece of flexible sheet material folded transversely to form the pocket forming member which is arranged exteriorly of the inner wall I? and the flap 22 whichextends downwardly and inwardly at the inner face of the inner wall If. The upper edge of the inner wall is arranged within the fold ofjthe pocket forming member and the flap 22 is provided. with parallelslits 23 which form the tongue 2! for engaging the slot 20 of the inner wall'l'l. When the pocket forming member is arranged in position it forms a single pocket at one end of the bill holder and the tongue 21 of the flap 22 is disposed horizontally and is passed throughthe, slot 28 for positively interlocking the flap 22 with the. adjacent end of the inner wall 11.

The other end of the inner wall is, cut away at. the lower corner at 24 to provide a corner opening at. the lower portion of one end of the bill holder for exposing: the bills and the opening provided by the cut away portion24 is of sufiicient'sizeto enable one or more bills to be readily pulled through it for removal fromthe bill holder without spreading the inner and outer walls thereof at their upper edges and opening the same and exposing the, contents of the bill holder at the top of the same. The bill holder which divides the wallet into two separate bill receiving compartments, may be arranged within the wallet with its inner wall facing outwardly or facing inwardly. The lower marginal edge portion 25 and the end marginal edge portions 26 and 21 arefolded upwardly and inwardly and adhesively or otherwise secured to the adjacent portions of the inner wall and the pocket forming member 8.

The card case comprises a cover 23 and a plurality of pocket leaves 29. The cover is formed from an oblong piece of leather or other flexible sheet material which is folded transversely to form an inner cover portion 38 and an outer cover portion 3|. The inner cover portion 30, which is inserted within one of the exteriorly arranged pockets of the inner wall of the wallet, is provided at the center of its free end edge with a. tongue 32 extending outwardly from the inner cover portion and passing through a slit 33 and provided at its free end with a fastener part 34 which engages a fastener part 35 of the outer cover portion 3| of the card case. The tongue, after passing through the slit, is folded inwardly and rearwardly over the free end of the outer cover portion 3| and the two fastener parts, which may be parts of a snap fastener, as illustrated in the drawings, are engaged with each other whereby the card case is not only secured in its closed position but is positively retained in the pocket of the wallet.

The pocket leaves 29, which may be of any desired number, each consist of two sheets 36 of Celluloid or other suitable transparent material, or any other desired sheet material may be employed in the construction of the pocket leaves. The sheets 36 are united at their upper and lower edges by a suitable binding 31 which is preferably plasticmaterial fused or adhesively secured to the sheets 36. The members of each pair of pocket forming sheets 36 are also united at the back by a fabric binding 38 which is stitched to the cover. The sheets of the pocket leaves are also provided at their free edges with central notches 39 for affording ready access to the contents of the pocket leaves of the card case.

It will be clear that the wallet is provided with a compact card case of a maximum capacity and detachably and securely mounted in one of the pockets of the wallet and capable of being opened and of affording ready access to its contents without removal from the wallet.

It will also be seen that when the inner wall portions [4 are united to the top of the outer wall at the ends thereof, the opening at the topof the wallet is tapered and is of greater length at the inner face of the inner wall than the length of the bill holder and is of less length than the bill holder at the top of the outer wall, so that the uniting of the said portions l t to the outer wall form end pockets for engaging the upper corners of the bill holder to retain the same within the Wallet and prevent accidental displacement of the bill holder and at the same time permit the bill holder to be inserted within the wallet by a direct downward movement and to be withdrawn from the wallet by a direct upward movement without bending or canting the bill holder when the bill holder is adjacent the inner face of the inner wall at the point of maximum length of the top opening.

Furthermore it will be seen that the bill holder operates as a divider to form within the wallet two separate bill receiving compartments and that in practice bills placed in the compartment between the inner wall and the bill holder will hold the bill holder spaced from the inner wall and in position to be retained against accidental displacement by the portions l 4, which are united with the top of the outer wall at the ends thereof to form the pockets which receive the upper corners of the bill holder.
