Applicationiled December 5, 19727. Serial No. 2371873.
mit manufacturing at a. relative low cost,-
and facilitating the quick and thorough application of a hot or cold pack to the face, the device operating to maintain a mask in contiguous relation to the face so as to leave the-hands free. y v
It is also a purpose of my invention to provide ina face pack a mask constructed to snugly conform to and completely cover the chin and sides of the yfacefso asv to render the pack highly effective particularly in steaming and softening the beard.
I will describe only one form of face pack embodying my invention and will then point out the novel features in claims.
Fig. 1 is a view showing in perspective one form'- of face pack embodying my invention in applied position;
F ig. 2 is a view showing in side elevation and in extended position the mask embodied in the pack shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a detail view of one of the sections of the mask shown in Fig. 2.
My invention in its present embodimenty pairs, each pair being stitched or otherwise secured to each other to form one thickness of material, and the two pairs being stitched to cach other at their outer edges so-as to form a mask of two thicknesses. .As illustrated in Fig. 3, the inner edge, indicated at 15, of each section 15 is curved, as illustrated, so that when stitched to the corresponding edge of the companion section the two sections will coact to provide a chin-receiving portion 16 of such contour as to receive and snugly fit the chin.
The sections 15 are constructed to provide extensions 17 at the sides of the mask which, in the applied position to the face, extend upwardly of and cover those portions of the sides of the face which are usually shaven. In addition to the outer edges of the mask sections being stitched to each other, they are bound at such edges by lstrips of tape 18 folded so astocover the mask edges and thereby yserving to reinforcetl'ie mask as a whole and to prevent un-raveling of the mateiial'of which it is formed..
EThe mask is held upon the face in the manner illustrated in. Fig. 1, and by the provisionV of a' supporting device which, in
vthe present.instance, comprises a head-embracing frame F and a chin-embracing frame C, both of vwhich are foi-ined of any suitable, semirigid material such as'resilient metal.
The frame F as now made consists of single length of strap metal bent into substantially ovate form and having f its ends in overlapped relation when vin applied position and adj ustably securedk to each other so as Vto cause the form vto snugly embracethe head in the manner illustrated in Fig. 1. The frame ends are adjustably connected by the formation; in one end of key-holes 19,
and headed membersZO secured to the other 'l to heads of different sizes and whenin' ap-r plied position to snugly embrace the head to prevent the accidental displacement thereof. e f
The frame C is of U form with its ends pivotally connected at the points indicated at 21 to the sidesof the frame F for the purpose of permitting the adjustment ofthe frame C to properly embrace `the chin of the wearer. The frames F and C and the mask M are provided with conventional snap fasteners indicated at22, arranged as shown, and which coact to secure the 'mask to the frames so that the latter will `function lto maintain the mask as' a wholein contiguous relation to the face.
Itis important to note that the mask is so constructed as to completely cover the -scribed only one form efface pack embodyf ing my invention, it is to be understood that variouschanges and modifications may be made herein vwithout departing from the spirit 'of the invention and the spirity and scope of the appended claims.
I claim: Y l. A face pack eomprisinga mask including a portion adapted to receive the chin and other portions adapted to overlie Athe cheeks and having extensions adapted to overlie the sides of the 'face at pointsV forvWard of the ears, and a device for supporting the mask 0n the head comprising a pair of frames, one of the trames being ot ovate form and adapted to engage around 'the head of the wearer to overlie the 'underside of the `chin receiving` portion of the mask, the
for securing the ovate frame tol said eXten-.
sions of the mask, andy means for securing the second mentioned frainetol the chin rreceiving portion of the mask, whereby the mask will be supported ony the head in contiguous relationto the face.
2. tace pack comprising a mask includ- Ward ofthe ears, and a device for supporting i the mask on the head comprising apair of frames, one of lthe frames being'of ovate orm and adapted to engage around the head 'of the wearer to overlie the underside of the tensions thereof, the other of the frames be-v ing of U form yand pivotally connected atv its ends to the ovate trame in such position n that it isadapted to overlie the chin receiving portion of the mask, lco-acting fastening members on said extensions of the mask and on the ovate Aframe for vdetachaloly securing the latter tothe extensions, Aantico-acting fastening member-s on the chin receiving portion of the mask and on the second mentioned frame for securing the latter to the chin receiving portion, wherebyl thel mask will be supported on the head in contiguous relation to the face.
