' TOBACCO PIPE.
Application med .rune 3,1926, serial No. 113,388, andl in Great Britain r:une 4, 1925'.
This invention relates to tobacco pipes of the type comprising a bowl, a detachable mouthpiece, and an inner tube mountedin said mouthpiece and adapted to project the bowl, the tube being of such a diameter as to fit the normal smoke passage of the -The object of my invention is to provide an improved tobacco pipe of thistype which will be hygienic and easily cleanable and comprises'the combination of 'a device here' inafter described and defined in the appended claim.1l
A further object of the ,invention is to provide a pipe of this character comprising a minimum number of partsy and requiring noscrew'threaded portions. Y
The invention will be made more clear by referring to the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 shows one form of pipe made inA accord-ance with this invention in section; and
Fig. 2 shows the component parts thereof. i
The improved pipe shown is built up of a bowl ae, a stem b, and a detachable mouthpiece c. The joining ends of the stem and mouthpiece are so fashioned that the-mouthpiece will extend into the stem a suflicient distance to unite them, the end f of the stem abutting against the shoulderv g on the mouthpiece. Ay `glass tube d, which is straight throughout its length and of symmetrical cross section, is inserted in the stem and is heldin position in the ends yof' the mouthpiece by means of Vaytapered ferrule e of any suitable elastic material, eorkfhaving been found to. give satisfactory results. The
interior of the connecting end of the mouthbowl to the mouth. The end of the inner 45.
tube projects through the stem b into the bottom of the bowl a. l
In use, as soon as the tobacco is burned, the smoke passes into the glass tube without coming into 'Contact' with Aany wooden vor 50 other portion of theY pipe except the bowl, and thence issues into the mouthpiece. Further, there are no kinks yor bends or hollows in the pipe which would be liable to` collect any nicotine or other extraneous matter.
It will thus be seen that'a pipe made in accordance with my invention requires only a minimum number of parts andfhas; no screw threaded'portions to become worn, in
addition to the advantage of conveying the e() single glass tube-extending from the bowl to the recess inthe mouthpiece, a taperedfcork surrounding the glass tube at one end and adapted to connect the glass tube to the mouthpiece, the enlarged end of said tapered y cork lying in the recess of the stem, whereby no nicotme or other extraneous matter can l be collected in the smoke passage.
In testimony whereof, I aix my signature.l
