lMPROVEMENT IN SAD-IRON SHOES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168,937, dated October 19, 1875; application filed September 25, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VICTOR G. THEBAUD, of Bufialo, in the county of Erie and State of of New York, have invented a new and Improved Shoe for Sad-Irons, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a top View, of my improved shoe for sad-irons.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention relates to an improved shoe or base for sad-irons, which may be readily attached and detached from the irons, so as to'forln continually an efi'ective ironing-surface for the same.
The invention consists of a flanged shoe with extension-flanges at the front end, and a fastening-screw at the rear end.
In the drawing, A represents a shoe or base, which is made to correspond to the shape and size of the sad-irons with which it is to be used. A narrow upward-extending flange, B, runs along the edge of the shoe to inclose the sad-iron sidewise, and prevent the smud ging' of accomplished, so that the irons may be readily exchanged, and worked with the shoe without interruption.
Having thus described my invention,I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A shoe for sad-irons, made with external flange, having curved side extensions at the front and a fastening-screw at the rear part to be readily applied to the iron, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
