SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 348,233, dated August 31, 1886.
Application filed January 23, 1886. Serial No. 189.443.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL G. PHALAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Woonsocket, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Boots, of which the following is a specification.
In the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a boot embodying my invention, a portion being represented as broken out, the better to illustrate the improvement. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section on line as.
A represents the leg of a boot, made of leather, rubber, felt, or other material.
B is a pocket, of any suitable material, secured to the inside of the boot-leg near the upper end. This pocket may be stitched, cemented, or in any other manner secured in place. In the drawings it is represented as stitched, and at a a rivets are placed for additional security.

what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a boot, the combination, with the bootleg, of the pocket B, secured to the inner side thereof, and the loop B, extending upward from said pocket and made integral therewith, substantially as and for the purpose described.
