IMPROVEMENT IN IRONING-BOARDS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 179,715, dated July 11, 1876; application filed February 21, 12576.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMES O. MERRITT, of Highland Falls, county of Orange and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Bosom -Board, of which the following is a specification The object of my invention is the production of a bosom-board, upon which the bosom of a shirt maybe properly ironed, other parts of the shirt kept out of the way, while the same may be readily put in place upon the board and removed therefrom with perfect safety and facility; and the nature of my invention consists of a panel with frame, the panel being readily removable from the frame, and upon the upper surface of which the shirt-bosom is ironed. The frame is shaped to correspond therewith, and the connection between the frame and panel is secured by beveling the inner edge of the frame and the outer edge of the panel to correspond, or by beveling either of them separately. When the board is laid fiat on itsback the panel-face is raised above One end of the panel is formed to admit the neck of the shirt. The frame is constructed to correspond, and the back or under side of the panel is beveled off to admit of closer connection between back of shirt-neck at that point, thus allowing the front of bosom at the neck to be spread out properly.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

A bosom-board, consisting of a combination of raised panel, a, provided with neck-projection I), also beveled edge 0, with a removable frame, 0, entirely surrounding said panel a, and held in place solely by the beveled edge 0 of the panel a, as shown and described.
