Description

Y :Bamm-TABLE; 'No'.184v,041. Patented Nov. 7,'1876.
UNITED STATES PATENT CDFFIGEv JOHNUHUBINGER, 0F INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN lRoNlNG-TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,041, dated November 7, 1876; application filed September 13, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN G. HUBINGER, of Indianapolis, Marion county, State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Boards for Shirt-Besoins, of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to provide for an ironing-board, by aid of which the b0- soms of shirts can be ironed more readily and perfectly than by the use of the present bosoin-boards.
My invention consists in constructing an ironing-board in such a manner that the same will stretch out the front of the shirt or theI bosom by being inserted under the same.
The board is so formed that an upper projectou, provided for at the upper end, will it into the neck-opening of the shirt, (when Vthe same is buttoned in front of the throat,)
and two other projections, provided at each side ofthe board, will 'fit intothe arm-holes of the shirt, and thereby canse, when inserted under the bosom of the shirt, the stretching ofthe snlne across the hoard. To the lower end ofthe board is hinged an end piece, having a sharp edge. This end piece is raised at right angles with the board after the shirt is placed in the position, as heretofore described, and when both edges of the shirt-besoin are caught into the corners of the hinged end piece, the same is brought down in the same line with the board, and the shirt-bosom is thus also stretched longitudinally over the board.
In order to describe my invention more fully, I referto theaccompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
Figure I is a plan view of a shirt-bosom ironingboard, with the end piece placed vin line with the board, embodying my invention. Fig. II is a sectional View, with the end piece elevated at right angle with the board.
A is the board, with neck-projections b'and shoulder-projections oo. D is the end piece hinged at g g to the board A.
Having thus described my invention, I desire to claim- A shirt-bosom ironing-board, provided with the projections b and c c, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
