IMPROVEMENT IN NECK-TIES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 168 666, dated October ll, 1875; application filed April 24, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, REGINALD R. PARKER, of Indianapolis, in the State of Indiana, have invented certain Improvements in Neck-Ties, as an improvement on my patent of February 23, A. D. 1875; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making part of this specification, in Which- Figure 1 shows the shield with the elastic cords and hooks and eyes. Fig. 2 shows a rear view of the shield with the tie attached.

The object of my invention is to produce a neck-tie that may be attached to a shield or other fixture 'to be fastened to the eollanbutton, and at the same time allow of such a change, without ripping stitches or changing the character of the tie, as will allow the alteration of the position or the replacement of one neck-tie readily by another.

My invention also contemplates a neck-tie shield having an upper convex edge, so that the tie wrapped upon it has a convex contour, and the shield bears only at one point on each side of the collar.

My invention consists of a shield having an upper convex edge, and an elastic loop or loops provided with hooks and eyes, or their equivalents, so as to allow a ready change of the position of the tie, or the substitution of one tie for another.

In order that those skilled in the art may make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the manner in which I have carried it out.

In the said drawings, A is a neck-tie shield having its upper surface convex, and in it are holes a b 0. Through the hole a is a loop of elastic cord, (1, to encompass the collar-button. Passing in and out the holes I) c is an elastic loop, 6, carrying a hook, c, and eye n, lapping and fastening over the inner side of the necktie after it is knotted over the shield, so as to hold it in position, as seen in Fig. 2.

This enables the wearer to change the posi tion of the knot at any time when itmay be soiled, or change the tie from time to time that is upon the shield. It also allows a nice adjustment of this tie to a collar.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The shield A, having an upper convex edge, and arranged within the folds of the scarf, substantially as set forth.

2. The combination, in a neck-tie, of the loop cl and loop 0, having the adjusting-hook 'i and eye 12, substantially as set forth.
