UNITED STATES PATENT UFFICEQ ALEXANDER A. SZABO, or HOUSTON, TEXAS.
lMPROVEMENT. IN BALE-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,652, dated August 10, 1875; application filed July 12, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER A. SzABo, of Houston, in the county of Harris and State of Texas, have invented a new and Improved Bale-Tie; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and eXact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which Figures 1 and 2 are perspective views of the bale-tie.
The invention. relates back to a patent heretofore granted to me, and numbered 156,827, wherein I use a sliding block with a slot on each side, that is near the middle, and preferably has a lateral opening, with which are connected suitable cramping-grooves.
The object of the present invention is to improve this block, so as to dispense entirely with one of these slots, and enable the block to be made one-half smaller, much more convenient for manipulation, and at less cost.
A represents the block; B, the side slot, having lateral opening 11; and G, the crampinggrooves. D is a hole extending from a point near one end of slot B, either transversely or laterally through the block, so as to receive the end of wire, which is fastened therein by the manufacturer, and to thus reduce the subsequent adjustment to only one end of wire. The free end of wire is either passed by the baler throughthe transverse hole or placed in the open slot, and then fastened by a longitudinal hitch, as in my previous patent above referred to.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is The improved bale-tie block A, with laterally-open slot B b and cramping-grooves 0, having the hole D, extending from a point near one end of slot B laterally or transversely through the block, as and for the purpose specified.
ALEXANDER A. SZABO.
