IMPROVEMENT IN TRUNK-STRAPS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,058, dated July 27, 1875; application led Y May 28, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEO. E. ALBEE, of Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Trunk-Straps, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure lis a perspective View of a trunk with my improved strap attached thereto; and Fig. 2 is a sectional View of the strap.

My invention relates to an improved strap for trunks, Whichis of simple and cheap construction and capable of being easily attached or released, and, by its succession of metal loops with rollers upon one end, enables a person to strap a trunk .so tightly with a small outlay of strength as to make it and its contents perfectly secure.

The trunk is represented in the drawing by A. B represents an ordinary long strap of leather or other suitable material, which may be of any desired width or Weight, having a loop, D, attached to the inside near the buckle F. C is a short strap, with buckle G, by Which it may be attached to the long strap B at any desired point, according to size of trunk, and a loop, E, at the other end. F is a common roller-buckle at the end of 'long strap B, which is punched with holes in the y ordinary manner.

To apply the strap, it is passed around the trunk, so as to bring the buckle F in front,

near the bottom of trunk, and the short strap O is adjusted in such a manner that the loop E hangs Within eight or ten inches of the buckle F, and on the outside of the long stra B. Then pass the end of strap'B down through the loop D from the inside to the out side, up through the loop with roller E from the inside to the outside, and down through 'the buckle F, and draw to the desired tension.

If made for any particular trunk the buckle G may be omitted and the loop E be attached to the strap B at the desired point in the same manner as the loop with roller D. The

only object Yof the buckle G is to make the strap adjustable to any size of trunk, or, if

desirable the short strap C may be entirely omitted and the same, or nearly the same, results 'obtained by combining the buckle G and the loop with roller E in one piece, as shown in dotted lines at H, Fig. 2.

I claim as my invention- 1. A trunk-strap, consisting of a buckle, F, and loops D and H, connected to the long strap B, substantially as described, and for the purpose specified.

2. The long strap B, provided with a buckle, F, and loop D, in combination with loop E, strap G, and adjusting-buckle G, substantially as and for the purpose described. GEORGE E. ALBEE.
