ORDER CARD.
Application filed September 16, 1924. Serial No. 738,014.
This invention relates to an order card. It is a well known fact that at the present time most milk is delivered in bottles of various sizes, and of various capacltles altho the tops of the bottles are of uniform size so as to be fitted with a uniform size cap. Persons who usually order milk, such as servants, etc. sometimes can write, and sometimes otherwise, and if they are able to write, their writing isofttimes not legible, and for the purpose of affording a convenient order ticket, I-have provided what I will term an order card, which is constructed of some semi-stiff and somewhat elastic material capable of receiving a pencil mark, the entire order card being of any convenient shape, and provided with an opening preferably oval,.the shorter diameter of which is less than the diameter of the top of the bottle so that it may be sprung over the top of the bottle, and when thus encircling and resting upon the neck of the bottle will thereby be prevented from being removed by the wind or other elements from the bottle. Upon this order card I have indicated the articles which are usually ordered from a milk peddler, viz: cream, milk and butter, and opposite each one of these ingredlents I have placed a small diagram in which may be indicated the number of pints, quarts or pounds which the purchaser desires, altho it is not necessary to include this diagram for the reason that a fi ure may be inserted even -when no diagram is used. 'To illustrate, if the purchaser desired one pint of'cream, he will put in the space at the right of the word sires two one-half pints, or one full pint, and at the right of the space opposite milk can be inserted the number of quarts desired, etc. a
With the foregoing objects, my invention consists in the several new and novel structures hereinafter set forth, and specifically set forth in the claim hereto appended.
In the drawings Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a bottle with the tag in place, and Fig. 2 a plan view of the tag.
wis an ordinarymilk bottle having the usual contracted neck bterminating in the enlarged top --a,-and provided with the usual recess din which the cap is inserted in the usual way. -e is the order card which preferably I make of some semistiff elastic material, such as cardboard, or
the like, and preferably is constructed in the form shown, altho this form is entirely immaterial, and upon which I have indlcated under the term Order a space in which may be marked the quantity which is desired of cream, milk, butter, etc. and of course, to which may be added any other article, such as buttermilk, cheese, or the like, in which the milk peddler 'is engaged.
The order card is provided with an opening, preferably oval, f, and may havea slotway at one side, as -gfor the pur pose hereinafter set forth. The shorter diameter of the opening -fis shorter than the circumference of the bottle, and the longer length of the opening is slightly greater than the diameter ofthe bottle so that the order card may be inserted over the cap of the bottle and allowed to rest down upon, the neck thereof and be prevented from being blown away, or otherwise accidentally removed.
It may be advisable to provide a slotway g upon one side so as to aid and assist in enlarging the longer diameter of the opening slightly so that the order card may be more easily placed upon the neck of the bottle without tearing.
It will be seen that if the bottles should not be of a uniform size, the placing of a slotway g in the edge of the larger diameter will allow a greater spread of the opening of the narrower diameter, and accommodate itself to bottles of various sizes. cream the number indicating that he de- I claim:
An order card for use in connection with milk bottles comprising an elongated blank or card of bendable material having an unbroken outer edge and formed with an opening elongated in the direction of length of the card and being of greater length than the diameter of the milk bottle top, and of less width than the diameter of the bottle top, and a slot extending from the ed e 'of the opening some distance into the b0 y of the card terminating short of the edge thereof for the purpose of allowing a greater spread in the width of the opening.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 2nd day of September, 1924.
