2 Claims. 1
The invention aims to provide an exceptionally simple and inexpensive, yet an effective device for displaying articles for sale, principally collapsible tubes of liquid solder, toothpaste or the like, and in carrying out this end, a further object is to provide a construction which may be readily formed from one blank of cardboard or similar material.
Figure 1 of the accompanying drawings is a side elevation showing one collapsible tube in place by means of broken lines.
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view partly in elevation as indicated by line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional View on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Figure 4 is a plan view of the blank.
In the drawings above briefly described, the numeral 5 denotes a flat horizontal, rectangular base. Integral with the longitudinal edges of this base are two lower inclined wall sections 6 which converge upwardly with respect to each other and are formed with openings to receive the lower ends of collapsible tubes or other articles 8. Integral with the upper edges of the inclined wall sections 6 and projecting upwardly therefrom, are two vertical, intermediate wall sections 9. Integral with the upper edges of these intermediate wall sections 9 and projecting outwardly therefrom, are two lower lateral flanges l and integral with the outer edges of said lower lateral flanges H], are two upper lateral flanges [2, said upper and lower lateral flanges diverging inwardly with respect to each other. Two upper vertical wall sections iii are integral with and project upwardly from the inner edges of the upper flanges l2. A central vertical wall section M has its upper portion disposed between and in contact with the upper wall sections l3, and has its lower portion disposed between and in contact with the intermediate wall sections 9. The intermediate portion of the central wall section l4 extends vertically across the space between the inner edges of the upper and lower flanges l2 and Iii. Staples or the like l are used above and below the flanges to secure the sections I4 and i3 together and to secure the sections M and 9 together. Thus, the central section 14 not only holds the sections 9 in vertical alinement with the sections l3 but holds the flanges I0 and I2 in fixed angular relation with each other, thereby providing an effective holding means for the tubes or the like 8. The flanges l0 and ii are formed with openings Hi to receive the caps of the tubes 8 or the upper ends of any other articles to be held by the device. When collapsible tubes are held, their edges are presented outwardly and thus an unusual number of the tubes may be supported by the device without making the latter of such size as to be objectionable.
Except for the staples t5, the entire device is formed from a single blank shown in Fig. 4. In this view, the portions of the blank which form the various elements above described, are given the same reference characters as said elements, plus the exponent a, and the score lines upon which the blank is folded, are denoted at H.
From the foregoing, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be seen that novel and advantageous provision has been made for carrying out the objects of the invention, and while preferences have been disclosed, variations may be made within the scope of the invention as claimed,
I claim:
1. An article display device comprising a horizontal rectangular base, two lower inclined Wall sections integral with the longitudinal ,edges of said base and converging upwardly with respect to each other, said lower inclined wall sections having openings to receive the lower ends of articles to be displayed, two intermediate vertical wall sections integral with the upper edges of said inclined wall sections and projecting upwardly therefrom, two lower lateral flanges integral with the upper edges of said intermediate wall sections, two upper flanges integral with the outer edges of said lower lateral flanges and projecting inwardly therefrom, said upper and lower flanges diverging inwardly with respect to each other and having openings to receive the upper ends of the articles to be displayed, two upper vertical wall sections integral with the inner edges of said upper flanges and project ing upwardly therefrom, a central vertical wall section having its lower portion disposed between and in contact with said intermediate vertical wall sections, the upper portion of said central vertical wall section being disposed between and in contact'with said upper vertical wall sections, the intermediate portion of said central vertical wall section extending vertically across the space between the inner edges of said upper and lower flanges, and means securing said intermediate and. upper wall sections to said lower and upper portions of said central wall section respectively, whereby said central wall section not only holds said intermediate and upper wall sections in vertical alinement with each other but prevents relative vertical movements thereof, thereby 3 V holding said upper and lower flanges in fixed' angular relation with each other.
2. A structure as specified in claim 1, the upper edge of said additional vertical wall section being integral with the upper edge of one of said upper vertical Wall sections.
