Description

v c. CHRISTENSEN ASH RECEPTACLE FOR CIGARETTE HOLDERS Filed July 12. 1926 Nov. 15, 1927.
ATENT OFFICE.
CARL CHRISTENSEN, OF VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA.
ASH RECEPTACLE FOR CIGARETTE EOLIDERS.
Application filed July 12,
* drawing rooms and other well furnished apartments, has created a nuisance of considerable magnitude in regard to the disposal of cigarette ash; but by the attachment to the cigarette holder of a light, metallic projecti on of a trough-like form immediately under and closely following the body of the cigarette, the ashes, instead of falling to the cal pet, are caught by the receptacle and there retained.
The attachment is hingeable near the ex tremity of the-holder and when not in use can be folded back over it to form a case.
The device can, of course, take a large variety of forms determined by the style, taste and costs put into it and need not be permanently attached to the holder, if not so reuired, but may have an extensible clip con nection so that it may be readily attached or detached as required.
The exact form of the device is more clearly exhibited by the drawings herewith, vhich form part of this application and in which l is a side view; Fig. 2, a plan; Fig. 3 leing another side view showing the cigarette holder loose in the clip of the de vice preparatory to being slipped into the position shown in Figures 1 and 2.
Similar numerals in the several views indicate identical parts.
The numeral (4t) indicates an ordinary cigarette tube or holder, of which (5) is the mouthpiece and (6) the cigarette socket. The holder is firmly clipped by the split conical member (7), this part being made 1926. Serial No. 121,899.
somewhat stronger than the remainder which may be of very light material.
The stamping from which the clip-member (7) is formed is made with a slight projecting piece on its lower portion extending beyond the end of the cylindrical part. This is afterwards bent downwardly and curved around the pin (8) to form the hinge (9).
if preferred, this hinge-member may be permanently secured to the holder by a metal ring or other suitable method.
The projecting member (10) is of troughlike form closed at (11), the sides being bridged across at (12) thus forming an abutment or rut against the underside of the clip- .member (7) and supporting the ash receptacle (l0).
The hinge-pin (8) passes through the sides of the member (10), which, at this point, are specially shaped to provide a compact form when the device is folded over as shown by the dotted lines at (13).
In this position the device forms a neat holder-case suitable for the pocket, the exterior corners being rounded off for this purpose.
Whilst the form exhibited in the drawings is a compact and workable design, it should be noted that I do not bind myself to it in full detail, except as limited by the claim.
Having now particularly described my invention, what I claim is In attachable and detachable combination with a cigarette holder, a slightly conical truncated ferrule, said ferrule being adapted to receive and frictionally engage the exterior of a cigarette tube, a trough-like member projecting from and hingeably secured to the larger extremity of said ferrule, said memher being in axial alignment with said ferrule and adapted to fold baclg over and partially enclose the said tube forming a case for same.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature.
CARL CHRISTENSEN.
