IMPROVEMENT IN lRO NlNG-TABLES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,258, dated J une 8, 1875 application filed January 30, 1875.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, OLIVER F. BURLIN- GAME, of Sterling, in the county of Whitesides and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing- Tables; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in the combination, with the ironing-table, of legs hinged to one end of the table and provided with notches at their lower end, and other legs pivoted at or near the center of the first two legs, and provided near their upper end with pivoted arms or rods, which are connected at their lower ends with a crossbar to rest in the notches mentioned, for supporting the free end of the table, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my ironing-table. Fig. 2 is a perspective view in enlarged dimensions of the notched ends of the legs with the bar placed therein.

A represents an ironing-table of any suitable size and shape, provided at or near its larger end on the under side with ears E, to which are pivoted the legs B B. These legs are connected by suitable rounds and formed with a series of notches, I P, near their lower ends. At or near the centers of the legs B B are pivoted other legs D D, which are also connected by suitable rounds, and near their upper ends they have arms or rods L L pendent therefrom, the lower ends of said arms or rods being connected by means of a crossbar, 0, the ends of which are to rest in the notches P of the legs B, and thus support the free end of the table A. By moving the bar Ointo difi'ercnt notches on the legs the table may be set at any inclination desired.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination, with the table A, of the legs B B hinged to the table and having notches P P at their lower ends, the legs D D pivoted to the legs B B, and the arms or rods L L having bar 0 and pivoted to the legs D D near the upper ends for supporting the free end of the table, all constructed substantially as shown and described.
