OLEMENS DARNSTAEDT, OF MEBIDEN, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOWEL-RACKS AND BOOT-JACKS COMBINED.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 139,551, dated J une 3, 1873 5 application filed December 19, 1872.
To all Awhom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLEMENs DAENsT AEDT,
' of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a Oombined Towel-Rack and Boot-Jack; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, which drawing represents a perspective view of my invention.
This invention consists in the arrangement of a boot-jack and toe-brace between the uprights or legs of a towel-rack in such a manner that by the boot-jack the firmness and stability of the towel-rack are increased, and, furthermore, the towel-rack serves to steady the person who uses the boot-jack.
In the drawing, the letter A designates a towel-rack, which is composed of four uprights, a a, and a series of horizontal bars, b 11, arranged in vthernannerrepresented in the drawing, or in any equivalent manner. Between two of the uprights a a I have secured a bootjack, B, which, being rigidly fastened between the said uprights, serves to increase the firmness ot' the towel-rack, and at the same time the weight of the boot-jack serves to steady the rack in its position. Over the boot-jack is secured' a toe-brace, O, which is fastened to one of the horizontal bars 6*, and this bar is made to swivel in its bearings so that'the toebrace can be adjusted in the required position over the boot to be pulled. i
During the operation of pulling a boot, the person using theboot-jaek can steady himself by taking hold of the horizontal bar above the bar bit, and the boot can be pulled with ease and convenience.`
By these means an article of furniture is obtained, which can be used with advantage in every household.
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A combined towel-rack and boot-jack, constructed substantially in the manner shown and described.
