UNETED STAT ETSABETLLE BLISS, OF OCEAN BEACH, CALIFORNIA.
APPLIANCE FOE REMOVING FACIAL DEFECTS.
Application filed December The invention is a novel device adapted to be applied to the users face for the purpose of confining the contour of the face to its natural position while using any desired 5 skin treating cream or thelike against the same, so as not only to subject the face to the action of the cream, but to effectively smooth out all wrinkles and lines, during the treatment. I
1 The object of the invention is to provide an extremely simple and rather inexpensive, yet an eflicient and desirable device for producing. ,the desired results, and, with this object in view, the invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplemented by the accompanying drawing.
Figure .l'is .a side elevation of the device in use.
Figure 2 is a perspective view showing the device detached. I
Figure 3 is a perspective View showing a manner in which thedevice may be modified if desired; I
The form of construction. herein disclosed may be considered as preferred, with the understanding that. within. the scope of the invention as claimed, modifications may: be made." Moreover, it may be explained that all parts of the devicearepreferably formed of rubber or other elastic material, but changes in material may of course be made if desired. r
The numeral 1 designates a flat wide forehead strap whose lower edge 2 is preferably shaped to lie in close proximity to the eyebrows for the purpose of removing all fore head lines and all lines from around the eyes. This strap not only extends in front of the forehead, but it has side portions 3 extending rearwardly at the side of the head and adapted to be connected with each other at the rear of the head, by appropriate fasteners 4. A tension strap 5 has been shown to pass over the head, said tension strap having a forked front end whose furcations 6 are suitably secured to the strap 1 in laterally spaced relation. The rear end of the strap 5 is divided and its two branches so or furcations 7 are connected with opposite sides of a collar 8 which is adapted to fit snugly around the users neck for the purpose of removing all deep lines and wrinkles. Preferably, snap fasteners 9 are employed to 0b connect the branches 7 with the collar 8 and 3, 1925. 'SerialNo. 72,991.
similar fasteners 10 are used to connect the ends of the collar 8 with each other.
By applying the strap 1 under tension and tensioning the strap 5 and then connecting the latter with the collar 8 around the users neck, it will be seen that. the strap 1 will not only pull rearwardly upon the front and sides of the forehead,,but due to the upward pull exerted on said strap 1 by the tension strap 5, an upward force is exerted on the forehead, tending still further to eliminate lines and wrinkles.
At 11, a stirrup strap has been shown for passage under'the chin and upwardly along the sides of the face for the purpose of removing a double chin and all lines on lower partof face and jaws, theside portionsof this stirrup strap being connected with the side portions 3 of the forehead strap 1 by snap fasteners 12 or other desired means. This stirrup strap in addition to exerting a smoothing elfect upon. the face, holds the strap 1 against excessive upward movement, and it will be seen that said strap 11 is tensioned to some extent by the'upward pull which said strap 1 exerts upon it. ;Pr efer ably, the end portions of ,the stirrup strap 11 are extended to pass .over the head,. and
snap fasteners or the. like 13 are employed to connect said end portions A second tension strap 14 is provided to pass behind the head at approximately the napcof theneck, said strap having upper and lower branches 15 which'a're intended to pass above and below the users ears. Snap fasteners 16 or other desired means, may be used to detachably connect two of the branches 15 with the strap 11, While the other branches may be permanently connected to said strap. It will be seen that the strap 14 when applied under tension, exerts a rearward pull on the sling strap 11, so as to similarly pull the flesh and skin at the sides of the face.
Before applying the device, some good quality of face treating cream or an astringent if desired is either applied directly to the face or to the inner sides of the straps 1, 11 and 8. Then, when the device is secured in proper position and allowed to remain for approximately two hours, very gratifying results are obtained, and it will be found that upon removal of the straps, that the cream has practically all been absorbed by the skin. The forehead strap 1 in connection with the stirrup strap 11 may be worn all night without discomfort and is advised in the case of a double chin or deep sagging lines and muscles. By repeated use of the invention, lines and wrinkles may be effectively removed. Then, the device may be further used to prevent return of the facial blemishes.
At some times it may not be desirable or advisable to use the forehead strap 1. If so its fasteners 12 may be disconnected from the co-acting fasteners of the sling strap 11. Then the T-shaped strap 17, shown in Fig. 3, may be connected by fasteners 18 with the fasteners 12 and by another fastener 19 to the strap 11. The end of the T-shaped strap may be secured to strap 14 at the nape of the neck by a fastener 20. The fastener 19 may be connected with one of the fasteners 13, the latter being double-ended for this purpose. It will of course be understood that when the strap 1 is not used, the tension strap 5 is not employed. Then the collar 8 may or may not be used, as occasion may dictate.
The details disclosed are preferably employed on account of the advantages flowing therefrom. However, within the scope of the invention as claimed, modifications may be made.
I claim:
1. An appliance for removing facial defects comprising a forehead strap adapted to pass in front of the forehead, rearwardly at the sides of the head and behind the latter, a tension strap connected at one end to said forehead strap and adapted to pass upwardly and then rearwardly over the head to exert an upward pull on the forehead strap, and a neck-encircling collar to which the other end of said tension strap is connected.
2. An appliance for removing facial defects comprising a forehead strap adapted to pass in front of the forehead, rearwardly at the sides of the head and behind the latter, a tension strap connected at one end to said forehead strap and adapted to pass upwardly and then rearwardly over the head to exert an upward pull on the forehead strap, a neck-encircling collar to which the other end of said tension strap is connected, and a stirrup strap to extend under the chin and upwardly at the sides of face, the side portions of said stirrup strap being connected to the side portions of said forehead strap.
3. An appliance for removing facial defects comprising-a forehead strap adapted to pass in front of the forehead, rearwardly to the sides of the head and behind the latter, a tension strap connected at one end to said forehead strap and adapted to pass upwardly and then rearwardly over the head to exert an upward pull on the forehead strap, a neck encircling collar to which the other end of said tension strap is connected, a stirrup strap to extend under the chin and upwardly at the sides of the face, the side portions of said stirrup strap being con nected to the side portions of the forehead strap, and another tension strap connected to the side portions of the stirrup strap, and passing around the nape of the neck.
4. A structure as specified in claim 1; said tension strap having forked ends whose furcations are laterally spaced and connected with the collar and forehead strap at spaced points.
5. A structure as specified in claim 3;
said last mentioned tension strap having forked ends to straddle the users ears.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto afiixed my signature.
