Description

F. M. MORGAN. FACIAL CONTOUR RESTORER. APPLICATION FILED JULY 7. mm.
A TTORNE YS Patented N 0v. 11, 1919.

FACIAL-COHTQUR RESTORIER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 11, 11919.
Application filed July 7, 1919. Serial No. 309,112.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS M. Moreen, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco and ,State of California, have invented certain which are common with elderly people, are
eliminated.
The device is adapted for daily use and is capable of adjustment to fit the head of any person, the same consisting preferably of a member which is passed over the head with its terminal ends lying adjacent the cheeks immediately in front of the ears and beneath the head dress, said terminal portions being adhesively secured or attached to the chee s, whereby when the slack in the support is taken up, the flesh on opposite sides of the face will be slightly raised.
With the above mentioned and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims hereto appended; it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction within the scope of the claims may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
To more fully comprehend the invention, reference is directed to the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a View of'the appliance in use.
Fig. 2 is a view in plan of the appliance with the parts thereof assembled.
Fig. 3 is a view in side elevation.
Fig. 4 is a view in detail of the adjusting means.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts, '1 indicates a su port of any suitable material, either fabric -or thin metal, and if constructed of metal, the same is bent to semi-circular form in plan and is adapted for positioning over the head with the terminal ends thereof lying at points preferably adjacent the temples. The support 1 is adapted for wearing either during the day, at which time it is concealed beneath the head dress, or at night, over the hair.
To the ends. of the support, illustrated in Flg. l, are secured, in any suitable manner, the adjustable clamps 2 of any well known construction, preferably-that type commonly employed in retaining tie pins within ties, the sameconsisting preferably of a tubular outer shell 3 and a tubular inner shell 4, the inner shell carrying the clamping balls 5, which ride on the beveled surface 6 of the outer Shell 3, said balls being normally maintained in frictional contact with the beveled surface by the spring 7- cooperating with the shells 3 and 4.
Suitable tabs or flaps 8 of any suitable configuration and any of suitable material are'employed for providing a connection between the fiesh and the support 1 and said tabs orflaps 8 are formed preferably with an adhesive face which is pressed into contact with the flesh, as in Fig. 1 of the drawmgs.
The upper ends of the tabs 8 carry suitable eyes or other fastening means 9 with which are engaged the hooked or bent lower ends 10 of the adjusting rods or members 11, one positioned at each side of the face with its upper end extending through the adjustable clamp 2.
In use, the support 1 is positioned over the head, preferably as in Fig. 1, and the hair is brought back to overlie and conceal thesame. The tabs 8 are adhesively applied one to each cheek preferably below the temple and immediately in front of each ear and the hooked portions 10 of the adjusting rods 11 are passed through the loops or eyes 9. When in this position, the flesh of the cheeks is raised, which permits of the passingupwardly of the members 11 through the adjusting clamps 2 until the skin is suficiently stretched underneath the c'hin to eliminate the flabby portion which forms the commonly termed double chin. The construction of the clamps 2 being such as to prevent the free downward movement of the members 11 relatively thereto until such time as the inner tubular shell 4 of the respective. clamps is raised, releasing the clamplng balls 5 from'contact with the beveled surface 6.
- ters Patent is pose comprising a su 1. An apparatus for the described purport for passing transversely over the hea and terminating at its ends adjacent the cheeks, an adjusting clamp associated with the opposite ends of said support, an adjusting rod associated Witheach clamp, and a member associated with each rod for detachably securing to the cheeks.
2. An apparatus for the described purpose comprising a curved metallic member providing a support and adapted for positioning transversely of the head with its opposite ends'terminating one adjacent each cheek, an adjusting clamp associated With each end of said support, an adjusting rod associated with each clampand each provided with a hook at its lower end, and a member associated with each rod and each having an adhesive surface for application FRANCIS M. MORGAN.
