SHUTTLE-FEELER THREAD PA TER AND CLAMP.
This invention relates toushuttle feeler thread partersand clamps for parting and clamping the filling extending from the outgoing filling carrier or bobbin towards ,the cloth selvage when replenishment of filling clamping devices whereby, when the shut? tle feeler is in its rearward shuttle feeling position, the parter and clamp may be ac tuated to part and clamp the filling and then move frontwardly to present the end of the 'filling'to the jtemplethread cutter.- "Such thread parters and clamps have sometimes been actuated to cut the filling by the front.- ward movement of the layand have been opened as the shuttle feeler ismoved rear wardly to shuttle feeling position. In some 7 other cases, also, it has-been'proposed to close the; parter and clampto perform the parting and clamping action by a train of mechanism associated withthe transferrer, and in such cases it has been usual to open the parter and clampby a separate mechanism as the shuttle feeler moves to its "rear- V tionof the transferrer. I
as usual and need no further adescriptionp,
ward shuttle feeling position.
One of the objects of'the present invena' tion is'to provide a shuttle feeler threadparter and clamp which'shall be controlled both as to its parting and opening" movements y rain of mechanism connected tothe transferrer.'-
as the shuttle feeler moves to its: rearward f position and is then yieldingly closed by the said train of mechanism in order to part 1 1 I which a pm 21 on and clamp the filling.
The invention andnovel combination of parts will best bemade clear from the fol'- lowing description and the accompanying drawings of one good form thereof.
Inthedrawingsi' Fig. 1 is a sectional side shuttle feeler parte'r and clamp having been yieldingly closed to part the filling movement of the transferrer; and

The loom frame 1 may be of usual con-- struction and,:'as common inthis class of" looms, it has mounted thereon the hopper stand 2 for supportingthe -hopper .3in which the filling carrlers 4 are supported.- Mount-f ed on the shaft- 5 is the transfer'rer 6, the
hub portion of which has extending down- 'wardly therefrom the transferrer arm? to' which is pivotally connectedthe dog 8 adapted to be engaged by a hunter 9 carried by the lay when the'dog is placed in the path of the :bunter' by the indicator mechanism. l Vh'en theibunter strikes the dog on call-for replenishment of filling, the dog,

The lay 10 carries the usual shuttle box 11 at the filling replenishing side ofthe lo'om to receive-the shuttle 12 from which the depleted filling carrier is: ejected, and a new or fresh ffilling carrier is; inserted 'on opera- These parts may be The shuttle feeler 13 is shown as pivotally mountedlat- 14 ona bracket 15 secured to the loom frame, and, in the present instance of the invention, the shuttle feeler passes .through the slotted guides-16 to directthe feelerin its backward and forward move ments. to effect certain movements of the parter and clamp as will presently appear.-
Mounted upon-the cm frame is a hear;

Extending --'rearwardly from the rock shaft 28 is an arm having'an opening 35 through which extends the lower end of the rod' T-26," the upper end of which is pivoted toam; movable parter and clamp. *Below,
the 'openlng in the arm 34the rod' 26 is provided with'screw threads 36 in which'is mounted the adj ustable nut 37 and the lock; ng-nut38.= a p The rod- 36 above theopening 35' in the arm 34 is providedwith a washer or sliding collar 39 on' whichrests one end of a spring 40, the upper jend=portion of which bears against a shoulder 41 on the rod, the construction being such that should the-arm 34' be raised relative to the rod 26, the thread parter' and clampwould be actuatedyield ingly'through' the spring 40' to part "and clamp the thread;
=Rotative movement of the 'rock' shaft 28 in a c'ontrac'lockwise direction may be limited by a suitable stop, which'inthe present instance comprises the projection 42 secured in 'fixed position or formed as part of the fixed bearing 27; and upon the projection 42 the arm 34 may rest'when-the parts'are in normal position, as indicated "in Fig; 2.
Upo'n'call' forreplenishment of filling, the
transverse or-rock shaft 17 is actuated as usual and as 'the-shuttle feeler moves to its rearward feeling position. thefiarm 343 acting' upon'the rod 26i'wi11' efl'ect opening movement of the thread parter and clamp, and 'upon actuation of thetransferrer as indica'teddn Fig. '1') thearm 34c will" be raised, thereby acting 'yieldi'ngly through the' sp'ring 4O toclose the movable parter antl clanrp to clamp and'partthe thread,
and as -the: shuttle "feeler then moves frontwardly to the: position' indicated in Fig; '2,
the Fpartenand clamp remain closed to position the filling thread a for the action of moves to its rearward feeling position;

-1. In a'filling replenishing loom, the com- 'bination of the transferrer, a rock shaft connected to andactuated by movement of the transferrer, a shuttle feeler thread p'arter and clamp, an arm extending from theroclrshaft and connections secured to the arm and thread p'arter and clamp acting'posi tively'to-open'the "part'er and clamp as the shuttle feelermoves tothread parting and clamping position and acting yield-ingly to close the parter and clamp to part and clamp the filling 'extendingfrom the ou't- J going" filling carrier'- upon transfer .of"
