IMPROVEMENT lN HATS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l( 'i2,530, dated April 27, 1875; appl cation filed March 6, 1875. i
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I JoHN CASE, of Alexandria, (Frenehtown P. O.,) Hunterdon county, New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Hats, of which the following is a specification:
The invention is an improvement in sunhats of the class in which an air-space is formed between the side or lower edge of the crown and the sweat-band or part in contact with the head of the wearer. The improvement relates specifically to the construction hereinafter described, whereby not only the sides but the top of the crown are insulated by an air-space.
Figure/1 is aview of the hat applied as when worn. Fig. 2 is a section showing the two parts of the hat.
This hat is composed of an outer conical or hemispherical porti0n,A, attached to ahat,B,
of the ordinary shape, so that a space is left above the crown, and at the sides between the two parts, as at O and D I). E represents the brim of the inner hat. The outer conical hat is supported on the crown of the inner hat, with its lower rim extending down to abouta level with the brim of the inner hat, as shown. The two parts are joined or connected at the crown angle F of the inner hat.
What I claim is I The combination of the outer conical or hemispherical portion A and flat-topped inner part B, the same being united at the point shown, whereby the spaces 0 and D are formed, as shown and described.
JOHN CASE.
