' "This 'inventionappertains to new and usevention, V portion of of reference ful improvements in flue opening stoppers and has particular reference to such a stopper designed primarily for closing the stove pipe opening in a chimney after the stove pipe has beenrremoved therefrom.

An important object of the present invention is to provide an improved flue opening stopper of the above character which will be durable and eflicient in use, one which will be simple and easy to manufacture and one which can be placed upon the market at a small cost.

Another object of the present invention is to provide such an improved flue opening stopper of the above character embody ing a cylinder or thimble having inner and outer disks separated so as to provide an airspace therebetween. 1

Another object of the present invention is the provision of such an improved flue opening stopper ofythe above character including a cylinder or thimble adapted to be inserted within the flue opening and hav in a stationary outer or cover disk and an inner disk disposed within the cylinder and spaced from the cover disk to provide an air space therebetweem'said inner disk serving to prevent the heat from reaching the cover disk,

It will thus be seen that the circumferential rib 17 serves toretain the inner disk in spaced relation to the outer'or'cover disk so as ,to provide an air space therebe tween. The inner disk 18 acts to prevent the heat within the chimney from reaching the cover disk '15 so that the provision of the air space between the outer and inner disks is an element of great safety. I

The inner end of the cylinder 11 may be formed with dia l disposed comga' tions as indicated at 2 0 and as the cylinder is being inserted withinthe flue openinglO, these corrugations serve to scrape the wall thereof so as'to remove therefrom any soot, dirt or the like which may have become also'a'cts to clean the wall of the flue open- 7 ing as itis placed in position.
