COMBINED rWEEzERs, yFINGER NAILrI'LE, AND CLEANER. 'i
AApplication filed March 22,1926,` Serial No. 96,585.
in the provision of a toilet article consisting of companion finger nail files of such construction that resilient tweezer jawsv will be provided upon disposing the files in opposed relation.
A still further object of this invention resides in the provision ofa toilet article consisting of companion finger nail files so associated as to become locked in unfolded position and provide resilient tweezer jaws when in folded position.
Y In addition to the foregoing objects, this invention consists of companion finger nail files of such construction that their assemblage into a unit establishes a dual function for a finger nail cleaner formed on one of the files. j l v Among the aforesaid objects, this invention resides In the provision of companion finger nail files assembled in pivotal rela-j tion so as to utilize the pivotal element thereof and finger nail cleaner carried by one file to establish the proper degree of resiliency between the files when folded to provide tweezers. j
With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in certain novel features of construction, arrangement and combination of elements to be hereinafter set forth in the specication, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim and, while the disclosure depicts my present conception of the invention, the right is reserved to resort to such changes in construction as come within the scope of the claim.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a combined tweezer, finger nailvfile and cleaner, shown in folded position;
Fig. 2 is a similar View showing the same in unfolded position;
"Figf-B is a longitudinal'*sectional view*` there'ofjin unfolded position; "Figfi is aA side view thereof iny folded position. i j.
ln the present embodiment of this invention, thenumeral 5 designates, in general, a combined tweezer, finger nail les and lcleaner, preferably formed from crucible annealed spring steel, and consisting of com' pamon members 6 and 7 pivotally secured together by a rivett8.
The aforesaid members l6` and 7 are offsetas at 6 in. the regiony of their medial porf tions to provide minor portions 9 and-major portions 1()` the former of which are aper-` tured as at 11 to receive the rivet 8, while the opposed surfaces of the latter `are lrnurled as at 12 to provide abrading areas of different degrees of roughness.. `The eX-' tremities of the major portions ofthe members 6 and 7 are gradually deflected toward one another to provide jaws 18 and, through the instrumentality of the rivet Sand a prong 141k formed at the extremityy of the minor portion of the member 6, the jaws y13 are retained in spaced relation for manipulation when the members are in folded position.
When the members are in unfolded position the prong 14 is adaptedto engage a depression 15 formed in the member 7 adjacent the offset portion thereof.
To facilitate the utilization `of theprong 14 as a finger nail cleaning element, Athe 'i adoption.
With an assemblage of elements disposed as aforesaid, it will be noted that the opposed lrnurled areas of the members 6 and 7 will be protected when said members are in folded position and, when inunfoldedposi-y tion, the said lrnurled areas will lie. in con- Ico venient relation to one another to be used as .i
abrading elements. Further, this association of elements not only disposes the jaws of i the members so as to establish rigidity there:
between, when folded, but, through the coacj tion of the prong .14 with the surface of the member 7, the jaws are disposed in opposed relation for convenient operation.
With this invention fully set forth, 'it iS manifest kthat a toilet article of eompaet character is produced, and, through they eoaction 'of the several elements involved, the
same is adapted to function as a unit 'having a threefold purpose. i Y,
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to 4proteot'by Letters Patent is:
A toilet article. of the Character described. 'i comprising ile lmember having onel end defleeted and a' depression adjacent its other end, a second file member having one' end delleeted .toward the delieoted end of the insti-mentioned file member, a prong on the opposite end of the second mentioned file prong, and abrading areas on certain sur- 20 faces ofthe le members.
n In testimony Whereofl allix mylsigfnatnre.-
