IMPROVEMENT IN TlLTING-PLATFORMS'FOR SEWING-MACHINE TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 61,116, dated March 23, 1875; application filed January 16, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAXIMILLION GREBNER, a resident of the city of New Orleans and State of Louisana, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Tilting-Platform for Sewing-Machines and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and correct description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification.
The object of my invention is to enable the operator to assume a more natural and easy position while engaged in running a sewingmachine, and also at the same time to permit of his exerting a greater amount of force with less fatigue in the propulsion of the same.
My invention, which is exceedingly simple both in its construction and operations, will be readily understood by referring to the accompanying illustrated drawing, in which- Figure 1, Plate 1, is a perspective view of my improved platfotm. Fig. 2, Plate 2, shows the easy and graceful attitude of the operator of a machine furnished with my improvement.
A is a rectangular base-plate, the rear side of which is provided with two lugs, a a, to which are pivoted the legs 13 Q of the bracketframe D. The front edges of the said legs are provided with notches b b c c, &c., for purposes hereinafter mentioned. E E are lugs cast or secured on the ends of the base-plate A, for the reception of the butt-ends of the tilting-frame F, in the outer corners 1 2 of which the hind legs of the sewing-machine rest, the front legs of the machine resting in corners d and e of the base-plate A. To the rear of the base-plate a spring, G, is secured for the purpose of pressingforwardthe bracketframe D, the notches of which engage the rear of the tilting-frame, holding the same firmly and securely in any desired position.

The platform herein described, consisting of the base-plate A, tilting-frame F, and bracketframe D, arranged to elevate the hind feet or legs of a sewing-machine, as described, and for the purpose specified.
