' Another object of the invention is to provide a metal container for loose face powder which will have all the beauty and convenience of the metal compact holders, but which wilLbe at the same time so made as to deliyer a small uantity of loose face powder-withoutthe e ort required to remove a small quantity of powder from a compact. Another object of this inventionis to provide a holder of the type described which will automatically preventthe spilling of loose face powder and which can be operated with a minimum of effort. f

with the plate 8 so as to push the plate 8 upward and cause'the members 9 to effectively close the holes 6. This concave spring member 11 may be fastened to the plate 8 to cause it to engage slots in said plate or said member 11 may be fastened to the bottom of the plate 8 in any'suitable manner.

It will be seen that when the fingerhold 10 is depressed so that the protuberances 9 will be moved below the position in which they effectively close holes 6 that a small portion of powder can be expelled from the box through said holes -'6. The action of spring 11 causes plate 8 to automatically come back into position so as to close the holes 6 sothat no powder can sift from the device'when the spring 11 forces plate 8 to what may be'termed its normal closure po sition. I v

It will be apparent that variations may be made in the construction of the plates 5 and 8 and also of the spring 11 without departin from the spirit of this invention.

- For instance, the finger-hold 10 need not be made integral with the plate 8, but may be made asa separate member and thereafter fastened to the plate 8. It will-also be apparent that other forms of springs may be used than the Specific form herein illustrated.

I have here provided. an eflicient and convenient device for securing a smallqua'ntity of loose face powder from a container wherein the loose face powder will not be spilt when not wanted. 7

Having fully described my invention, what I 'claim'iszj 1. In a toilet'powder container, a holder for the powder, a plate fittin saidholder and acting as a cover for sai powder, a series of orifices around the center of said ate,- a supplementary plate having a series protuberances fitting said orifices and a spring connected to the center of said supplementary plate and normally holding said protuberanoes in engagement with said orifices, and a fingerhold attached to the under plate and passing through the upper plate, permitting the having a series of cone-shaped protuberances integrally formed thereon fitting said orificcs, a spring fastened to said lower plate holding said .protuberances normally in en gagement with said orifices, and afinger-hold fastened to said spring so that by pressure on said spring powder can be simultaneously released from all of said orifices.
