UNITED STATES WILLIAM HERBERT YbUN G, 013 LAKELAND, FLORIDA.
TOOTH BRUSH AND PASTE HOLDER.
Application filed October 15, 1926. Serial No. 141,825.
7 This invention relates to toilet articles and its primary object is to providea tooth paste dispensing cabinet and tooth brush holder that not only houses a tooth brush in a sanitary manner but supports .a collapsible tube of paste in an inverted positon and also includes means whereby the contents of the latter may be dispensed therefrom and the tube is held in operative position at all times regardless of the position of the door of the cabinet. V
A further object of the invention is to provide a tooth brush and paste tube cabinet that includes a door having closure means thereon for covering the nozzle of the tube when the door is in its closed position, thereby the contents of the tube will be kept in a clean and sanitary condition.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described,
illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointedvout in the appended claims. Y
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective .view of the device which forms the subject matter of one form of the present invention a Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken therethrough to illustrate the position of the tooth brush and paste tube.
Figure 3 is a sectional'view taken on the line 33 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Flgure 3.
Figure 5 is a perspective View of the tube supporting means.
fled form of the invention.
Figure 7 is a vertical sectional View taken through the cabinet as shown in Figure 6.
Figure Sis a sectional view taken on line 8-8 of Figure 7. 1 v i v [Figure 9 is a fragmentary sectional view illustrating the operation of the'cmeans for removing the contents of a tube inthe monified form.
Referring to the drawings in detail and particularly to Figures 1 to 5 inclusive the reference numeral 1 indicates a rectangular cabinet providedwith an open bottom, side Figure 6 is a perspective view of a niodi-,
i be readily placed in saidtube compartment respectively, and a top 6. The front and side wallsare formed of transparent or semitranspai'ent material as shown in the drawings. Secured to and rising from the back wall 5 in a manner to be disposed above the top wall 6 is an apertured ear 7 adapted to receive a nail or other supporting means whereby the cabinet may be supported in a depending position upon a wall or the,like.-
The lower edge of the rear wall 5 is bent upon itself as at 8v to provide a hinge for the door 9 which is formed on its front and side edges with flanges to engage the a,dja-- cent edges of the respective walls of the cabinet when arranged in closed positionas suggested in Figure 2 of the drawings and a handled catch 10 is formedwith the front flange for engagement with av notch in the front wall for retaining said door 9 in its closed position. The cabinet is divided into a tooth brush compartment 11 and a tube compartment 12 through the ,instrumentality of a partition 13. The portion of the door 9 which underlies the tooth brush compartment is preferred so as to allow sufiicient air within the tooth brush 7 compartment for keeping a tooth brush in a dry state.
The side walls 2 and 3 of the form shown in Figures 1 to 5 inclusive are formed accommodate the trunnions 15 015 a roller 16. Extending laterally from the trunnions 15 are handles 17 whereby the roller may be moved vertically within the tube coinpart;
ment as suggested in Figure 2 of the draw-, ings and the purpose of said roller is to-co1- lapse the tube and press the contents there-' from as said roller is moved in'adownward direction.
slot, are slightly enlarged to provide an inwithout interference thereof bythe roller.
The tube is supported in its compartment by a substantiallyU-shaped member formed with a body 18 which is disk shaped in configuration and extending from'diametrically 1 The vertical slots are provided with rounded ends and the upper ends of each I 'withvertical slots 14- which are adapted to a cli-ned edge as shown so that a full tube can the tube as suggested in Figures 2 and 3 of the drawings. By this construction, it
will be obvious that the tube will be sup-.
ported in operative position regardless of whether or not the door 9 is in open or closed position and disposed von the inner,
illustrated in Figures 6 to 9 inclusive I have provided a'cabinet similar in construction to the cabinet as shown in Figures 1 to 5, but it will be noted that the side walls in this form of the invention are solid while the front wall 23 is provided with a slot 2a through which projects the handle 25 of the means for pressing and removing the co11- tentsof the tube which is associated with this modified form and said means includes a body plate 26which when associated with the tube is arranged in sliding engagement with the rear Wall of the tube receiving compartment as shown in Figure 9. This body plate 26 is provided with apertured ears 27 arranged at right angles to the plate 7 and in parallelism with each other so that the tube and pressing and sanitary condition when the cabinet is the apertures thereof will accommodate studs 28 projecting from the outer edges of the press-er or cam member 29 which is curved as shown in Figure 9 for engaging the contents therefrom when the handle which extends centrally from the cam member is given a-reciprd catory downward movement in the slot 24 as will be readily apparent.
From the above description and disclosure of the drawings, it will be apparent that the v cabinetwhich forms the subject matter of the present invention will house a tooth brush and a collapsiblctube of paste in aninverted position so that the roller as shown in Figures 1 to 5 inclusive can operate upon the tube for forcing the contents therefrom when said roller is-moved in a downward position by the handles 17, and a brush as well as'the tooth paste is retained in a clean not in use.
The operation of the means for removing ing the handle downwardly in theslot 24 at the same time giving'it'a reciprocatory movement so that the cam member will operate upon the tube in the manner as set forth. 7
It is thought from the foregoing descripe tion that the advantages and novel features of myinvention will be readilyapparent.
I desire it to be understood that l: maymake changes inthe construction 2111Cl11'l the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is 1. A dispensing cabinet of the character described comprising tooth brush and tooth paste tube compartments, a substantially U-shape'd member arranged in tie paste tube compartment for supporting a tube in inverted position, means for removing the contents of the tube, a door for said tooth paste tube compartment and-a closure on said door underlying and engaging the nozzle of the tooth paste tube when said door is arranged in closed position.
2. A toilet article of the character cesc-ribed con'iprising acabinet, a partition dividing thocabinet into a tooth brush compartiiient and a tooth paste tube compare ment, said tooth paste tube compartment having. swarm-ma in its side walls and vertically disposed therein,=a roller having trunnions arranged-in saidslotand being adapted to be associated with a tub'e of paste in a manner whereby when said roller is moved downwa "dlya is adapted to press the oontentsof the tube therefrom, handles on said trunnions for moving said roller, a door forming the bottom of-asaid container and being hinged thereto; a substantially U- shaped member having" an opening centrally disposed therein for receiving the nozzleof the tube whereby the latter is supported in inverted position in its compartme 3 means for retaining the door in closed position and means forengaging the bottom of said .noz- Zlefor closing the latter when the door is arranged in closed position;
tooth. brush and'tootlrpaste tube compartmentsymeans for securing a tube in inverted position in the toothpaste tube compare ment, means for removing the contents of said tube and including a body plate mount edj'for slidablemovement on the rear wall centrally from said cam 'member and ex tending through a slot in the cabinet forlop crating the contents removing: means.
