This invention relates to cabinets designed for permanent insertion in the walls of structures, particularly vehicles, whereby common articles of personal adornment are retained in a conveniently accessible manner.

One of the objects of the invention is to provide a cabinet composed of sheet metal having interlocking walls so engaged as to form an unusually firm structure, provided with a hinged lid and means for retaining the same in aclosed position.

A further feature is in the provision ofa leaf articulated intermediate the cover and body, the leaf being provided wit-h receptacles suited to contain a variety of articles used by women in' performing minor toilet operations.

Another aim is to produce a cabinet having a cover which-may be extended at a right angle to be used'as a shelf and a leaf engaged y the cover hinge to extend at substantlally forty-five degrees when thecover is fullyopen.

These several objects are attained by the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereafter described and shown in the annexed drawing, forming part hereof, and in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention shown in an open position.

Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the cabinet as closed, the section being taken on line 22 of Figure 3.

Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view of the same, the section being taken on line 33 of Figure 2.

By reference to the drawing the cabinet will be seen to consist of an oblong rectangular box-like structure, relatively shallow and provided with'flanges if desired to limit its entry into a support and also affording an eflicient attaching means.

The cabinet consists of a top wall10 having integral end walls 11, all of which are inwardly flanged at their rear edges and provided with prongs 12 adapted to pass through openings 13 in a rear wall 14, said the front as best seen in Figure 2.

The rear wall is bent at a. right angle to forma bottom 16 and flan ed at its other edges to overlie the margim upper and end elements as seen in Figure 1.

Tabs 17 extending from the lower front corners of the end walls, carry a hinge pin 18 on which is mounted a cover 19 havlng flanged edges to engage the walls of the cabinet, the cover having a re-enforcement 20 in which is rotatably mounted a flange stem 21, carrying a pivoted loop handle 22 and provided with a catch 23 engageable with a keeper 24 fixed on the wall 10 and having apart extending into the interior, thus constituting an efficient closure.

An intermediate plate 25, outwardl pouched, as at 26, at the middle of its len and having an outwardly curved up er-e go 27, is provided. at its lower edge wit curled hinge elements 28, encircling the pin 18, these elements having oflset extensions 29 at their ends adapted to engage similar adjacent extensions v30 on the cover at the curled hinge elements 31 formed thereon.

This hinge arrangement is such as to permit the cover to be swung partially outward, thereafter engaging the plate elements, causing the same to swing outwardl the ultimate position of the plate being su stantially half the angle presented by the cover, said cover .being disposable at a right angle to the plane of the cabinet when fully extended.

A rear plate having flat surfaces 32 at its end'portions, has formed at its end extremities, forwardly bent elements 33, and at their inner edges are i-nturned guides 34 connecting a central rearwardly bowed element 35 opposite the forwardly pouched element 26. v

From the foregoing it will be seen that a simple'device for this purpose has been disclosed in the preferred form of its embodiment, but it is not desired to restrict the details to the exact construction shown, it being obvious that changes, not involving the exercise of invention may be made without conflicting with the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letcover through which said stem passes, anda pendant knob pivotallyconnected with said stem for operation thereof.

A toilet article cabinet comprising ahollow rectangular body, a hinged cover at the front of said body adapted to extend in register with the lower wall thereof, a plurality of unlike integrally connected receptacles hingedly engaged in said body to the cover to be moved into a position of accessibility by said cover, the walls of said receptacles e retain articles entered therebetween, and a pendant knob and means actuated thereby for locking said cover when in a closed position.

A toilet article cabinet comprising a hollow oblong rectangular body, a cover, a hinge connecting the cover at the extreme lower edge of the body, means associated with said hinge to limit the outward motion of the cover to present a shelf, a front late also engaged by said hinge, means to imit the outward motion of said hinge in conformity with the movement of said cover, and a back plate spacedly secured to the front plate, said back plate being of greater height and shaped to produce unlike compartments open at the top and closed at the bottom.

A toilet article. cabinet comprising a hollow oblong rectangular body having a hinged cover, a front plate bulged outwardly at its center portion and connected by the cover hinge, and a back plate secured at its bottom to the front plate, said back plate being spaced to present containers at its end portions and curved rearwardly at its centelr portion opposite the bulge of said front ate.
