ATTACHMENT FOR SINKS.
Application filed July 26, 1924. Serial No. 728,381.
This invention relates to an attachment for a sink the general object of the invention being to provide a detachable coverv which extends over the top of the sink and makes a table or stand of the sink.
Another object of the invention is to provide the cover with perforations and to corrugate it so that water will drain therefrom into the sink.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which 2- Figure 1 is a plan View of the device.
Figure 2 is a section on line 2-2 of Figure 1 and showing the device in use.
Figure 3 is a sectional detail View showing how the device is suspended from the sink when not. in use.
As shown in these views, the device is formed from a metal plate 1 which is provided with corrugations 2, extending longitudinally thereof and with perforations 3 which permitwater to drain from the concaved parts of the corrugations. The plate is also provided with the elongated holes 4 which form handles for facilitating handling of the device and tongues 5 are punched from the plate and bent downwardly to form stops for holding the device in position on a sink, as shown in Fig. 2. Some of these tongues can also be used for suspending the device from an edge of the sink, as shown in Figure 3. In this position, the plate hangs Vertically from the edge of the sink so that it is out of the way and will not interfere with the ordinary use of the sink.
Each side edge of the plate is fiat and the perforations 3 and the tongues 5 are formed in these flattened portions.
This device will enable the sink to be used as a table or as a support for articles which may be placed on the device and the corrugations and perforations will allow water or liquids to drain through into the sink. It is easily and quickly put in position and removed from the sink and when suspended in a vertical position from the sink it will be out of the way though readily at hand when desired.
formed by the corrugations,
depending tongues formed in the flat portions of the plate for holding it in a position covering the sink or in suspended position at one side of the sink and said flat portions having elongated openings therein forming handles for handling the plate.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures.
EDITH M. BELAND. HENRY J. BELAND.
