VANITY CASE. 1

To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, PERCY J. CALLowrIILL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Ithode Island, have invented new and useful Improvements in Vanity Cases, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in vanity cases and the 1 primary object thereof is to provide a novel type of vanity case, equipped with a carry- 1ng cord havlng a lip stick holder forming a handle or finger grip at its free end.

A further object of the invention is to provide means for removably mounting a perfume vial on the case and to also provide novel decorative means for concealing the vial carrier, which means permits the carrier to be easily and quickly moved into and out of its several positions.

The invention has still further and other objects which will be later herein set forth and of themselves manifested in the course of the following description.

In proceeding in accordance with the present invention, a case is employed having a body 1, a double faced mirror 2 and a cover 3, the mirror and cover being hinged to the body for relative independent movement by means of a common hinge 4c. The cover 3 is formed to receive a cake of rouge, while the body 1 is formed to receive powder. A spring arm 5 has upper and

An eye 9 is secured to the cover and has one end of a carrying cord 10 attached thereto, the opposite end of the cord being attached toan eye 11 on the center of a cylin- The lip stick is mounted in a tubular carrier member 13 longitudinally slotted at 14:, and through which slot the shank of a push botton 15 slides, the shank of the push button being connected to a cup 16 slidable in the member 13. The cup 16 is formed to receive the inner end of a lip stick 17 and is restricted in its outward movement by a stop 18 secured in the member 13.

The member 13 is removably held within the holder 12 by friction.

The body 1 is provided with an eye 19 to which is connected a carrier or case 20 for a vial of perfume P. The case 20 has a re movable top 21 connected thereto by means of a bayonet-slot and pin connection 22. Fringe 23 is secured to the body 1 and de pends therefrom forming a tassel which completely conceals the case 20.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the lip stick holderalfords a convenient carrying handle for the entire structure, and at the same time the carrier member 13, with the lip stick therein, may be removed from the holder and projected, by means of the push button 15. 7

Movement of the latch arm 5 releases both the cover from the mirror and the latterrfrom the body, while the perfume case may be readily swung as desired through the fringe, and its top then removed to permit removal of the perfume vial. The fringe forms a tassel in effect, but also conceals the vial case and at the same time permits same to be readily moved into and out of normal or concealed position.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by LettersPatent is 1. In combination with a vanity case, a carrying cord connected at one end to the case, a tubular lip-stick holder connected to the opposite end of the cord, a lip-stick carrier frictionally held in the holder, said holder forming a carrying handle, a vial carrier suspended from the case, and fringe sus pended from the case in surrounding relation mit the carrier to be moved through the fringe to expose same. 2. In combination with a vanity case, a carrying cord connected at one end to the case, a tubular lipstick holder connected to the opposite end of the cord and a lip-stick carrier frictionally held in the holder.

3. In combination with a vanity case, a -arrying cord connected to the case, a lipstick holder connected to the cord and constituting a carrying handle, and a lip stick carried by the holder.

In combination with a vanity case, a vial carrier means to suspend the carrier from beneath the bottom of the case, a fringe disposed in encircling relation to and about the carrier and its suspending means so as to normally conceal each, and means to attach the fringe about the periphery of the case so that the latter provides a head for the fringe.

In combination with a vanity case, a carrying member connected to the case, a lip stick holder connected to the carrying member and constituting a handle, said holder having a closed and an open end, and a lip stick carrier removably engaged in the holder and movable into and out of the latter through said open end thereof.

In combination with a vanity case a vial carrier sn-ingingly suspended from the case, a fringe suspended from the case in surrounding relation to the carrier to conceal same andpermit of movement of the carrier through the fringe to gain access thereto, a flexible member connected to the case, and a lip stick holder connected to the flexible member.

8. In combination with a vanity case, a carrying member connected thereto, a handle forming element connected to the carrying member, and a vanity article carried by the handle. 7

9. In combination with a vanity case, a carrying member connected thereto, a handle forming element of tubular form connected centrally of its length to the carrying member, and a vanity article removably housed within the handle forniing element.
