This invention relates to toilet articles, and its general object is` to provide a cosmetic holder, that can be easily and quickly attached to a person and to the hand thereof, whereby it will be handy and convenient, and in a place where the cosmetics held thereby can be removed, used and replaced in an easy and expeditious manner with very little effort, with the result the holder will be extremely useful in public places, especially in a ball room, theatre, or vehicle as in the use of the device, the usual search for cosmetics which are generally carried in a vanity box or the like willbe eliminated.

A further object of the invention is to provide a cosmetic holder which includes the usual mirror, and is adapted to be carried on the hand of a person in a manner whereby the appearance of the person can be inspected by such person without detection and therefore the mirror can be used without embarrassment.

Another object of the invention is to provide a cosmetic holder than can be easily and quickly attached and detached to and from a persons hand, and includes ornamentations such as flowers, jewelry, designs, pins, insignia and the like which add materially to its appearance and at the same time have a tendency to disguise the same.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and' in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing our invention in detail, refe erence will be had to Vthe accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout several views, and in which:

Referring to the drawings in detail the reference numeral l indicates a receptacle of the usual annular formation and which includes a hinged cover 2 having a mirror arranged in the inner 'side thereof with its outer side provided with ornamentations as at 2. The receptacle is adapted to receive rouge or powder as will be apparent, and has spaced parallel loops 3 formed lwith its bottom at an angle to the hinge of the cover as best shown in Figure 3 of the drawings.

Arranged in the loops 3 is one of the parallel portions Ll of a flexible member 5 which as shown in Figure 3. The portion 6 of said flexible member is provided with a plurality of spaced parallel transversely disposed grooves 7 and the parallel portion l is provided with spaced openings to receive the bead 8 form-ed centrally of the loops 3 and rising therefrom asbest shown in Figure 5. These beads 8 frictionally engage the flexible member 5 and prevent casual movement thereof as will be apparent.

Detachably secured to the ends ofthe i parallel portions l and 6 isa strap 9 and the means for securing the strap 9 to the parallel portion 4 consists of a hooked member which is provided with a hook l0 to be received in a slot 1l formed in the end of said parallel portion 4 and said hook member also is provided with parallel slots ar ranged in pairs to? form cross strips l2 to which is fixed the strap 9 in looped formation as at 13. The loop 13 formed in the strap 9 is adapted to receive a lip stick casing or the like as indicated by the reference numeral 14 in Figure 3.

The strap 9 which may be formed from ribbon has 'its opposite end secured to the parallel portion 6 through the instrumentality of a pin fastening member 15 which includes a shank 16 adaptedto be received in a keeper 17. The strap is folded upon itself as at 18 and is disposed in superposed engagement with the parallel portion 7 and held thereon by the engagement of the shank 16 therewith and which forces a portion of the folded strap into one of the grooves 7. By this arrangement, the strap may be adjustably associated with lthe parallel portion as it will be apparent that the shank 16 can be disposed in association with any oneof the grooves 7.

In Figure 8, we have illustrated a modified form of our holder and in this form of the invention the receptacle is indicated by the reference numeral 19 and is provided with loops 2O for receiving a ribbon strap 21 which has secured to one of its ends a bail carrying member 22 adapted to receive the hook 23 of the fastener member 2l through which is looped the end portion of the strap 21 and said strap 21 has arranged for slidable movement thereon the stud member 25 of snap plates which also includes the member 26 having resilient fin gers formed therewith and which is adapted to receive the studs 27 of the stud plate 25. The member 26 is fixed to the opposite end of the strap as shown. The strap in this form of the invention may be formed from silk, velvet or satin ribbon and fixed at any desired place in its length is a flower which in the present form is indicated by the reference numeral 27.

In the form of our invention as shown in Figures 9 and 10, we include a receptacle which is indicated by the reference numeral 2S and which is the same as the receptacle 19 and 1l and this receptacle 28 is also provided-with loops 29 formed on its bottom for receiving a flexible member 30 which has formed thereon ears 31 engageable with the opposite sides of the loops 29 to prevent longitudinal movement of the flexible member 30 as will be apparent. The flexible member 30 has provided in one end thereof a slot 32 to receive a strap 33 which is looped upon itself and has slidably mounted thereon a stud bearing member 311 which is adapted to receive the spring finger plate 35. The flexible' member 30 has formed in its opposite end an opening to which is secured the strap 33 and said strap follows the curvature of the flexible member 30 and has its end secured between the receptacle y 29' and flexible memberas best" shown 1n Figure 9. A flower 36 is fixed to the strap 33 at any appropriate place in its length, but as shown in Figure 9, the fiower is secured by having means 37 passed through the opening formed in the flexible member 30 with said means fixed to the strapas shown.

From the above description and disclosure in the drawings, it will be 'obvious that we have provided a cosmetic holder that is adapted to be fixed to the hand of a person so that the cosmetics will always be in a handy and convenient reach of the user and at the same time the holder will provide an ornamental appearance and in no way will interfere with the persons activity.

It is thought from the foregoing descrip* tion that the advantages and novel features of our invention will be readily apparent.

IVe desire it to be understood that we may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.

What we claim is:

1. In a device of the character described, a resilient flexible element looped upon itself to provide parallel portions normally retained in parallelism and clamping engagement with the hand of a person by the natural inherent resiliency of said element, one of said parallel portions being adapted to be secured to an article to be worn on the hand of a person, a strap, hooked means secured to one end of said strap and being' adapted to be detachably secured with the free end of one of said parallel portions, and means for adj ustably securing the opposite end of said strap to the other parallel portion.

2. In a. device of the character described, a relatively stiff resilient fiexible element, a pin fastening means for securing'one end of a strap to the flexible element, a shank included in the pin fastening means, a keeper formed with the pin fastening means for receiving said shank, and said resilient flexible element being formed with grooves for cooperation with the shank in a manner so that the latter overlies the strap for urging the same in one of the grooves whereby the strap is adjustably associated with the resilient flexible element to vary the size of the device with respect to the wearer.'
