Application filed. December 5, 1923. Serial No. 678,652.
TomZZaolzomz't may concern: v
Be it known that I, LYNN W. MAooMBnn, citizen of the United States, residing at BattleCreelr, county of Calhoun, State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wire Baskets or Receptacles, of which the following is aspecification.
This invention relates to improvements in wire baskets or receptacles.
The main object of this invention is to provide an improved wire basket or receptacle which may be used for general purposes, display purposes and the like, which is strong and durable and capable of withstanding severe uses, and onewhich is, at the same time, very economical to produce.
Objects pertaining to details and'economies of construction of my improvements will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the following spcification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my improvements is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, in which:
Fig. I is a perspective view of my improved basket or receptacle.
Fig. 11 is an inverted fragmentary view showin the bottom construction thereof.
In the drawing similar numerals of reference refer to similar parts in both views.
Referring to the drawing, my improved basket comprises a plurality of side hoops l, a bottom hoop 2 and angled integral slat members 3 formed of. folded pieces of wire, the pieces of wire being arranged on the inside of the bottom and side hoops and secured thereto by welding.
The bottom hoop 2 is arranged adjacent the angles of the slat members. The bightends t of the slat members are arranged in overlapping relation so that-each slat mem her overlaps the adjacent member, the overlapping parts being welded together at their crossing point, see Fig. 11.
The tie memberso'connect the inner ends of the opposed slat members, these tie members closing the openings in thebottom and also strengthening the bottom.
Vith this arrangement of the slat members the has et is thoroughly braced and may be formed of relatively light wire and, at the same time, is strong and durable.
. My improved basket is especially designed by me for display purposes although it may be used for general purposes. When used for display purposes it is preferably used in connection with a display stand as shown in my application for patent filed concurrently herewith. 7
Having thus describedmy invention what.
l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: j
1.- A wire receptacle comprising a plurality of wire side hoops, a wire bottom hoop, angled integral side and bottom slat members formed of folded pieces of wire disposed with their bights at the bottom and welded to said side and bottom hoops, the bottom hoop being disposed adjacent the angles of said slat members, the bight portions of said members beingdisposed in an annular relation and arranged in overlapping relation so that each overlaps the adjacent members, the overlapping parts of said niembers being welded together, and tie members connecting the inner ends of 0pposed slat members.
2. A wire receptacle comprising a plurality of wire side hoops, a wire bottom hoop, angled integral side and bottom slat members formed of folded pieces of wire disposed with their bights at the bottom and welded to said side and bottom hoops, the bottom hoop being disposed adjacent the angles of said slat members, the bight portions of said members being arranged in overlapping relationso that. eaclroverlaps the adjacent members, the overlapping parts of said members being welded together.
A wire receptacle comprising a plurality of wire side h0ops,a wire bottom hoop, angled integral side and bottom slat members formed of folded pieces of wire disposed with their bights at the bottom in an annular overlapping relation and secured together, said slat members being secured to said side and bottom hoops, and tie members connecting the inner ends of opposed being arranged in overlapping relation so slat members. that each overlaps the adjacent members, 4:. A Wire receptacle comprising a pluthe overlapping parts of said members being rality of Wire side hoops, a Wire bottom secured together.
5 hoop, and angled integral side and bottom In Witness whereof, I have hereunto set slat members formed of folded pieces of my hand. Wire, disposed with their bights at the bottom and the bight portions of said members LYNN WV. MACOMBER.
