"MARVIN J. JACKSON, 01 YOUNGSTOWN, 01110.
GARMENT SUIPIPOB-TER.
Application filed January 30, 1922. Serial No. 532,885.
To all whom it nag concern:
Be it known that I, MARVIN J. JACKSON, a
, citizen of the United States, residing at Youngstown, in the county of Mahoning and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garment Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to garment supporters, and has particular application to'a garment supporter constructed to not only support the hose in a convenient manner, but to also prevent the overshirt from working upwardly and partially out of the trousers, especially when a belt is worn.
Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a garment supporter of the above mentioned character wherein the component parts are capable of adjustment, so that the device in its entirety may be quickly and conveniently adjusted to the comfort of the user.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawings forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and wherein Figure 1 is an elevation of thedevice associated with the wearers garments.
Figure 2' is a vertical sectional view taken on line 22 of Figure 1, and Figure 3 is a plan view of the invention.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 10 an 11 indicate spaced parallel straps which may be elastic or inelastic without departing from the spirit of the invention. Thecorresponding upper extremities of these straps are associated with fasteners 12 of any suitable character by means of which the straps can be secured to the overshirt of the wearer as illustrated in Figure 1. A buckle,20 is carried by the upper end of the strap 11 and slidably engaged with thisbuekle 20 is a V shaped strap 18 whose branches carry fastenings 21 for engagement with the outer shirt as shown in Figure 1. A short strap 13 provided with an adjustable buckle 14 is also attached to the buckle 20 and is equipped with a fastening 12 to engage the shirt as illustrated.
Suspended from the lower ends of the straps 10 and 11 respectively are slotted plates 24. j Each plate is provided with parallel horizontally arranged slots 25 adjacen the upper and-lower ends thereof, the upper most slot of each plate receiving the lower end of the adjacent strap above referred to, while the lower slot receives the stocking engaging member which is in the nature of an adjustable strap provided with the usual fastener such as shown in the drawing. Each plate .is -also provided with spaced vertical slots 26 which of course are arranged at right, angles to the slots 25.- Passed' through the. corresponding slots 26 of the respective buckles 24, is a band 27 which may be varied in length, incidentto the adjustment of a buckle 28. Thisband is adapted to encircle the limb of the user. to hold the straps 10 and 11 in proper position with relation tosaid limb, the'extremities of the band 27 having associated therewith cooperating fastening elements 29 and. 30 respectively which may be of any suitable construction. The straps 10 and 11 are provided with buckles 22 and 23 respectively whereby the length of these straps may be regulated.
Manifestly, I have devised a construction of a garment supporter of the class in question, which can be. conveniently and easily adjusted to vary its size as the occasion may require, so that the same may be worn in comfort by the user. The straps l0 and 11 not only support the hose in a proper manner, but by reason of the factthat they are connected with the overshirt, the latter is held down in the trousers in proper position, and thereby overcomes the trouble generally experienced especially when a belt is worn, of a shirt creeping upwardly to the discomfort of the wearer. It will be also noted that the straps 10 and ll are slidably adjustable upon a band 27. so that these straps can be moved toward and away from each other, or in other words properly spaced apart for the comfort of the wearer.
While it is believed that from the foregoing description, the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I
(ill
wcarers leg, a buckle carried by the upper end of the strap, a V-shaped strap slidably engaged with the buckle and provided with fastening elements at its ends adapted to be engaged at the bifurcated part of a shirt, and a short strap connected With the buckle and having fastening means adapted to be onnected with the shirt at the apex of the bifurcation.
In testimonv whereof I aflix my signature.
M. J. JACKSON.
