PATENT OFFICE.
ABRAHAM BLOCK, OF BLOOMFIELD, NEW JERSEY.
BELTED GARMENT.
" Application filed July 16, 1925. Serial No. 44,078.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM BLOCK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bloomfield, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belted Garments; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same. i
My invention relates primarily to improvements in ordinary trousers, knickers and the like, but may 1n some instances be embodied also in skirts if desired.
One object of the invention is to provide a garment provided with a uniquely attached belt which may be formed of the same material as the garment, or of any desired material or color.
Another object is to provide a belt having an elastic, rear portion and to' provide a horizontally elongated belt guide at the rear of the garment. in which said elastic portion A still further-aim is to make unique provision for forming the horizontally elongated guide for the rear portion of the belt.
With the foregoing and minor objects in view, the invention resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplemented by the accompanying drawing. t
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the upper portion of a garment embodying my invention.
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view on line 2-2 of Fig. 1. I
Figure 3 is a vertical transverse sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 1.
In the drawing above briefly described, the preferred form of construction is illustrated and while this construction will be hereinafter specifically described, it is to be understood at the outset that modifications may be made. The numeral 1 designates a garment having the usual back seam 2 and provided with darts 3 adjacent its hip portions. In front of these darts, a suitable number of a propriate belt guides 4 are provided, at t e exterior of the garment.
invention, suchas will enable others skilled than the elongated A belt 5 hasits rear portion disposed at the interior of the garment, between the darts 3, while the end portions of said belt pass to the exterior of the garment through said darts and are engaged with the guides 4, one end of said belt having an appropriate buckle 6. These darts are stitched from their ends to points above and below the belt 5 to form openings into an elongated belt guide at the rear portion of the garment. A flexible fabric strip 7 engages the front side of the above named rear portion of the belt 5 to form a belt guide, and is stitched to the garment above and below said belt, as indicated at 8, said strip 7 extending between the darts 3 and slightly beyond them, and having it upper edge folded over with the waist-band portion- This formation provides an easily constructed horizontally elongated guide for the rear portion of the belt, which portion is preferably elastic as indicated at 9, whereas the re mainder of the belt is preferably inelastic. The elastic portion of the belt is shorter belt guide in which it is received, so that it cannot withdraw from said belt guide and be visible, even when stretched to the maximum, and in order to prevent sliding of the beltin one direction or the other, so as to move its elastic portion out of the retaining guide, said ortion is suitably secured to the garment. referably, this elastic portion is formed of two strips of elastic secured to the end portions of the belt and having their rear ends disposed in and anchored by the back seam 2, as shown most clearly inFig. 2.
A garment constructed in accordance with my invention possesses the advantage of always having an attached belt and moreover, the elasticity of this belt gives unusual free dom of movement andcomfort to the wearer. The garment is constructed in such a manner that'it may be easily and rather inexpensively are obtamable.
I claim:
A garment zontally flexible strip fixed to the inner side of the rear portion of the garment and terminating provided with a pair of horimanufactured, yet excellent results spaced darts at its rear portions, a
passing slidably through substantially 'at the darts to form an elongated belt guide, said darts having vertical openings communicating with the space between said flexible strip and garment, additional guides in front of said darts, a belt said additional guides, said belt having an elastic rear portion arranged within and obscured by said elongated belt guide, and means securing the elastic portion to the garment to prevent l0 sliding thereof from the elongated guide.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto afiixed my signature. 1
ABRAHAM BLOCK.
