IMPROVEMENT IN LOUNGES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 155,921, dated October 13, 1874; application filed August 5, 1874.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, NICHOLAS H. Bone FELDT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Lounges, of which the following is a specification:

This invention relates. to a lounge which is composed of a frame covered with canvas or other suitable material, said frame being provided with a supporting-catch formed by bending it downward in such a manner that said frame preserves a certain degree of elasticity, and by covering the same with canvas a cool and convenient lounge is produced, and at the same time, by means of the supportingcatch, said frame can be readily adapted to a childrens carrage.

This invention is illustrated in the accompanyin g drawing, in which Figure 1 represents a longitudinal section of my lounge when applied to a childrens carriage. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same detached. Fig. 3 is a plan of the frame which forms part of the lounge.

The letter A designates a frame, which is made of strong metal wire, or of any other suitable material, and which is bent downward at one end, so as to form a foot, B, which, on account of the elasticity of the material composing the frame, also acts as a catch, whereby my frame can be readily adapted to a childs carriage. Said frame is covered with canvas or other flexible material, and it is slightly bent at a, so as to increase its convenience. On the sides of the covering are buttons b, to which a cover, 0, may be fastened to protect the feet of the person occupying the lounge.

My lounge can be made of any convenient size, and when it is placed on the fioor it forms a convenient rest for any person to whose stature the same is adapted. I intend to use it, however, particularly for children, and for that reason I provide the same with the supporting-catch B, so that, when desired, it can be placed into a childs carriage, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing. In this case the catch, bearing against the outside surface of the box of the carriage, retains the lounge in the required position, and the child which occupies the carriage has a cool and convenient rest. By means of the catch the head of the lounge can be raised or lowered to suit any desired position of the child when in a carriage.

My lounge is exceedingly simple in its construction, it is cheap and durable, and, on account of its superior lightness, it can be readily moved from place to place; but one of its chief advantages consists in its adaptability to childrens carriages.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- M l. A lounge composed of a frame, A, covered with canvas 'or other suitable material, and provided with a foot or supporting catch, B, substantially as shown and described.

2. The combination of alounge, constructed as described, with the box of a childrens carriage.
