To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SAMUEL JosErH DANTZIG, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Washington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dress Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in ladies dress attachments and more particularly adapted to be used on ladies dresses or skirts as shown in the accompanying drawings,

An object of this invention is to provide a stiifener which is attachable to a skirt at a point where the skirt spans the interstice between the buttocks to prevent adherence of the skirt in the interstice when the wearer arises from a sitting to a standing position.

A further object of this invention is to provide an attachment of this character which is readily attachable to and detachable from the dress, skirt or the like and so constructed to be comfortable to wear.

In order to illustrate the application of.

the resent invention a skirt 1 is shown whicli may be of the usual design. Mounted upon the skirt approximately mid-way the ends thereof is a stiffening strip 2 which may bemade of celluloid, mohair, or other suitable material. The strip may be apphed II is a similar view of anotherv to skirt in any desired manner, inthe present instance it is shown detachably secured thereto by clasps as well as'sewed to skirt as will be more fully hereinafter described. It is sufficient that stifiening strip comprise a relatively small oblong body as shown in body although the contour maybe changed as desired.

If it is desired to use a stifiening strip in accordance with this invention which is detachably engaged to the skirt by aclasp, the form of clasp shown in Figures III, IV, and V, may be shown to advantage. This form of clasp consists of a circular plate 3, having openings therein, each provided with an outwardly pressed annulus 4. These plates may be sewed or otherwise secured to the inner face of the skirt at the rear of the latter, and are provided with aligning 0 enings 5 which are adapted to receive resilient clips or fingers 6 carried by the strip 2. Each clip consists of a strand of wire bent upon itself having the inner end thereof secured in any desired manner to one end of the strip while the opposite end extends beyond the strip and is compressible so as to be engaged through its corresponding openings 5 in the annulus 4. It will be noted that the outer ends of the clips are of substantially diamond shape configuration when compressed so that the clips must be manipulated in an especial manner in order to engage same through the opening 5 as illustrated in Figure III of the drawings.

If desired the strip 2 may be sprung into pockets 7 carried on the inner face of the skirt or sewed to the skirt as shown in Figure VII, of the drawings, the strip 2 being provided with perforations 8.

In this invention a very advantageous and simple attachment is thus provided, slight changes ma be made without departing from the splrit of the invention and within the scope of the claim hereto appended.

What is claimed is In combination with a skirt, an attachment including a stiflening strip to span the interstice between the buttocks and secured to the garment at a point where the latter spans the buttocks.
