IMPROVEMENT IN WASH-BENCHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 153,598, dated July 28, 1874; .application filed August 23, 1873.
To all ywhom it may concern Be it known that we, DANIEL W. NoERrs and NEWELL E. WOODS, both of Elgin, in the county of Kane and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Wash-Bench, and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact/description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, in which- Figurel is a perspective view of our improved wash-bench when opened, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same when folded or closed.
Similar letters of reference in the accompanying drawings denote the same parts.
Our invention relates to improvements in wash-benches; and consists in the employment of a platform, which is an extension of the bench, and hinged thereto, and capable of being folded up against the wringer-frame when not in use, or, by the removal of the latter for shipping purposes, may be folded over on the bench, the extension also being provided with a folding leg, as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the bench, of the usual construction, and provided with legs B B. C C are wringer-standards, preferably attached to the bench in such manner that they may readily be removed for shipping purposes. D isthe extension, flush with the bench, and hinged thereto at m m. n is a leg hinged at o to the extension D.
h is. a hook onone of the Wringer-standards, which engages with a staple, o', on the edge of the extension D, when the latter is folded up and out of use. The extension D, when opened, is adapted to support a basket or other receptacle for clothes after they have passed through the wringer, the tub resting on the main portion A of the bench on the opposite side of the wringer, or the positions of the tub and basket may be reversed, if deemed necessary.
