UNITED STATES PATENT QEEIGEQ' HENRY KEELER, OF EUREKA, ILLINOIS.
COMBINED lRONlNG-TABLE AND CLOTHES -BARS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 252,675, dated January'24, 1882.
Application filed April 20, 1881 To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY KEELE of Enreka, in the county of Woodford, in the State of Illinois, have invented an Improved Oombined Ironing-Table and Clothes-Bars; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which like letters of reference refer to like parts, and in which' Figure 1 represents a sectional elevation through the center of board B atxx; Fig. 2, a view of table folded upyFig. 3, a perspective view.
The pair of legs 0 O are pivoted at E to the other pair of legs, A A, and also by means of the set-offs F F to the under side of the board B. The other extremity of the board B is supported by the cross-bar G, being retained at different heights by the ratchet-bar R, bolted to said board B. The legs A A haye their upper ends prolonged and furnished with crossbars H 11 H By means of the short pieces D D and the cross-bars H and H the strips D D are attached to the upper ends of said prolonged legs A A; and tor the further reception of clothes, crossbars H extend between and beyond said strips D D.
To fold up this ironing-table and clothesbars, the upper ends of legs A A and O O are pressed toward each other, the ratchet R and (No model.)
I top B sliding over the crossbar G until the offset F comes against .said bar G, when the ratchet end of said board B falls down till it is flat against the lower ends of the legs. The stripsD D being folded down against theironing-hoard B, the whole is brought snugly together in its most compact form.
The table is adjusted to different heights by catching the, cross bar G at points in the ratchet R nearer or farther away from the setoffs F F.
The free ends of the strips D-'D can rest' either upon'the floor, high up against thewall, o-ver upon the back part of the stove, or Wherever most convenient.
WVhat I claim as my-invention,and fOIWlllUll I desire Letters Patent, is as follows, to wit:
The ironing-board B, having set-oft's F F and ratchet R, in combination with the legs 0 U, cross-bar E, extended legs A A, having crossbars, G, H, H, and H short strips D D, and strips D D, having cross-bars H H, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing invention I have hereunto set my hand this 13th day of April, 1881.
HENRY KEELER.
