IRONING-TABLE.

To all whom it may concern: I

Beit known that I, JOHN MooERs, a citizen of the United States, residing at What Cheer, in the county of Keokuk and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ironing-Tables; and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention.

My invention relates to ironing tables and has for its object to combine in one device, convenient for use and storage, boards of different forms.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure l is a perspective view of my improved table shown in operative position. Fig. 2 is an inverted plan view showing the table folded as when out of operative position. Fig. 3 is a cross section taken on the line fr, x, of Fig. 2. Figsi and 5 are details showing the manner of uniting the boards by pivoting. Fig. 6 is a longitudinal section taken through the center of the table when in operative position with the wider board uppermost. Fig. 7 is a similar View to that shown in Fig. 6, except the narrow board is shown uppermost, with the Inangle box resting on the support.

Referring to the drawings by letters of ref erence, A, indicates aboard of about the usual form, and covered in the usual manner, which normally forms the work table, While a narrow board B, serves as a support; the board B, however is furnished with a suitable cover and may be brought into use instead of the board A, by inverting the table as indicated in Fig. 7. The two boards are connected at B', by a rod C, which passes through the ribs A', of the board A, and through the body of the board B, forming a pivot upon which the parts swing.

To the board A, there is secured a mangle box D, in which is mounted a suitable roller for giving collars, cuffs and like articles the proper curve, and for polishing the same. The sides of the box D, are secured to the board A, in any suitable manner, and the front edges are made sloping, as is also the lid or cover E, the object of which is to have the mangle box rest securely upon the table or support when the board B, is being used; this board is made narrow and tapering to adapt it to use when ironing sleeves and other parts of garments requiring the board to pass through openings or folds. When in use the two boards are held rigidly in position by means of a brace F, and when one is in use mfor pressing, the other with the brace forms a support from the floor, except in certain instances where the nature of the work would cause the brace to interfere when it may be folded against the board A, and the board B, may be secured in horizontal position by means of buttons or catches g, which are turned so as to engage the opposite face of the board A, said board being slotted .to allow the end of the board B, from the pivot backward to swing between the two members of the bifurcated end of the board A; the extended ends of the said board, and the lower edges of the end pieces D', of the mangle box D, forming an opening into which the edge of a table or other suitable support may extend when the board A, is being used for pressing; when the board B, is being so used the outer end of the board A resting on the iioor, and the broad surface formed by the sides and cover of the mangle box being presented to the table or support, gives the structure a steady bearing while the board B, is in use. The boards and mangle when constructed as above described form a device convenient in use, easily stored and one that will occupy little space.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The pivoted boards A, B, and extending brace F, in combination with the niangle box D, having sides D', and cover E, adapted to form a suitable rest for supporting one end of the table when the board B, is used for pressing, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
