Be it known that I, ANTON BUEDALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sheridan, in the county of Yamhill and State ofy Oregon, have invented certain new andv useful Improvements in a Pen and Pencil Holder, of which the Afollowingvis a specification.

This invention relates tol new and useful improvements in pen and pencil holders and has for its principal object toprovide a simple and efficient devicewhich may be attached to and worn on the wrist of a person, means being yprovided for normally holding the pen or pencil or both in a retracted position. i

A further object ofthe invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character, wherein means is provided for enabling` a person to at all times have at hand a pen or pencil' which may be used whenever desired, thus preventing' the loss of considerable time in looking for a pen or pencil as is often experienced.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of the above mentioned character, ywherein -a vholder is provided which may be conveniently worn on the wrist of a person and in such a manner as to support a plurality of pens and pencils, means being associated therewith for normally holdingthe pens and pencils in a retracted position when not in use, lmeans being further provided for projectingr the pen or pencil to be used upon the releasing of the holding lmeans whereby a pen or pencil may be withdrawny from the holder and used by the` person without interfering with the other pencils in the holder.

A still further object of the invention is V,

to provide a device of the above mentioned clntracter. which includes a means for detachalily securingr the same around the wrist of the wearer and will further provide a simple and cliicient means for holding a pluralily of pens or pencils, thus (,)bvialing the necessity of having vto carry the pens or pencils in the pocket or other part of the personfs apparel. i

A still further object is to provide adevice of the above. mentioned character, which is simple in construction, inexpensive7 strong and durable and furthermore adapted for the purposes for which it is designated. y

VIt will thus'v be seen yfrom the foregoing description, that a pen and pencil holder has been provided wherein any number of pens or pencils may be 'supported in the casing on the wrist of the wearer in such a manner as to be accessible at .all times, thus preventing the necessity of having to carry 'the pens and pencils around in thepockets of'theperson'orin 'any otheriplace which frequently results inthe loss o'fthe pen or pencil as well as the loss ofconsiderable time iii trying tofind a pen oi vpencil when it is desired to have'the use of thesame. Having thus described what I claim is:-

l. A pen and pencil holder of the class described comprising a casing open at its bottom, a pencil supported at its upper en-d therein, means for holding said pencil in said casing, means for projecting said pencil outwardly from the bottom of the casing when said holding means is released, and a spring reel for retracting said pencil into said casing.

2. A pen and pencil holder of the class described comprising a casing open at its bottom, a spring reel supported in the top of said casing, a chain fastened at one end thereto and. adapted to be woundy therearound, a pencil fastened at lits upper end to the opposite end of said chain,means carried by the lower part o-f said casing for engaging and holding the pencil in said casing.

A pen and pencil holder of the class described comprising a casing open at its bottom, a spring reel supported in the top of said casing, a chain fastened at one end thereto and adapted to be wound therearound, a pencil fastened at its upper end to the opposite end of said chain, means carried by the lower part of said casing for engaging and holding the pencil in sai-d casing, and a spring associated with the upper end of said pencil and said casing for my invention,

4. A pen and pencil holder of the clas described comprising a casing open at its bottom, a spring reel supported in the top of said casing, a chain fastened at one end thereto and adapted to be Wound therearound, a pencil fastened at its upper end to the opposite end of salid chain, means carried by the lower part of said casing for engaging and holding the pencil in said casing, said means comprising a lever pivotally supported intermediate its ends on said casing, the upper end of said lever ex-v tending through the casing and engaging the pencil, a spring associated with the outer free end of said lever and said casing for holding the upper inner end of the lever in engagement with the pencil.

5. A; pen and pencil holder of the class describedcomprising a casing open at its bottom, a spring reel supported in the top of said casing, a chain fastened at one end thereto and adapted to be wound therearound, a pencil fastened at its upper lend to the opposite end of said chain, means carried by the lower part of said casing` for engaging and holdingthe pencil in saidl casing, a. spring associate-d with the upper end of said pencil and said casing for projecting the lowerendfof the pencil outwardly from the bottom of the casing upon the release of said holding means, and attaching means associated with said casing.
